Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! I’m Peter Pan! I was rescued from an abandoned home along with my mama, Pixie, and sister, Tinkerbell. We were living under a house with our mom. My mama was brave and asked this nice lady to help us! She ran to her car and begged her to come save us too! We are now in a foster home, but we would love to have a forever home! I must be adopted with my sister, TinkerBell. We are the best of friends! I'm a bit more out going than she is, so we even each other out. We will keep each other company! We would do well with other kitties and dogs too! We are both loving and playful. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative. ****Puppies and kittens will be fixed when they are 5 months old. When they are adopted younger than 5 months, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. Esme is a beautiful, sweet Russian blue mix. Photos simply don't do her justice. She was rescued from a hoarding situation (a mobile home with 40+ cats inside) and was already a young mom at about 9 months old. She took good care of her 3 kittens (gray like her) but as soon as they were weaned she was ready to be a kitten again herself. She can be wildly playful, but also enjoys looking at the window at the world. She probably didn’t eat well or often in the past, which can happen in situations where there are lots of cats and not enough food), so she can be nervous about getting enough to eat. But she’s been nothing but sweet and loving to her foster family. After her kittens were adopted, she became close with other kittens in the house - showing them the ropes and bathing them as needed. She has a lovely voice that she uses often to locate her furry friends and humans. She would also be fine as an only cat in a home where she can get lots of attention and introduced to toys and interactive play.  We think she’d be fine other cats following a proper introduction, unsure about dogs. Evander is a cute short-haired Russian Blue mix male kitten about 4 months old (DOB about 3/1/24).  He came from a hoarding situation where there were 40+ cats in a mobile home.  Evander was the smallest of all 40+ cats weighing only 0.65 pounds when he came to us.  He was under weight and malnourished but he has fully turned the corner.  He is named after Evander Holyfield, the boxer, because he really fought his way to good health.  He LOVES everyone as soon as he meets them.  He’s a really snuggler who likes to have his belly rubbed.  He is VERY playful and active.  He loves to play with toys or other cats and is never bored.  He likes to be held and to snuggle.  He gets along well with cats, and I think he'd be great with dogs and older kids.  He's negative for feline leukemia and aids, had all three distemper and the rabies vaccines, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and neutered.  If interested in this cutie pie, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net  We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens.  Lulu, Sugar Ray, and Lucia are wonderful, fun, loving, entertaining littermates.  Lulu and Sugar and short haired Russian Blue mix kittens.  Lulu is female and is wearing the pink collar.  Sugar Ray is male and is wearing the teal collar.  Lucia is a stunning short hair black female with a white circle on her neck.  They are about 4-5 months old (DOB about 2/20/24).  They LOVE everyone as soon as they meet them.  They are VERY playful and active.  Lulu is the most dominant of the three.  She does not like to be alone in a room by herself.  She prefers to be out and about with her people.
