✨Meet Lia!✨ Lia came to us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Lia had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Lia loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! Story
Seiko is a loving 1.5-year-old we adopted from the Lehigh Valley Humane Society, and we're looking for the right home for him. He was having a rough time at the shelter and we wanted to help him. However, our apartment isn't big enough. Even with 3–4 long walks a day and weekend dog park trips, he needs a fenced yard and room to run. He is a dog with a lot of energy. He's super friendly with people and other dogs, though he barks and pulls on leash when excited. He's done daycare at Camp Bow Wow multiple times and loved it, with great reports every visit. My daughter and I love him. However, we see this as more of a foster situation and we need to find a better home for him with more space. We want to be selected about which family adopts him. If you have a fenced yard and patience for a big, happy dog, then Seiko will be a great companion and member of your family.
