Story
My name is Pixie and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 2 years old and a happy, smart, playful girl. I’m very proper and elegant – just imagine Audrey Hepburn as a Shiba. I came to my foster home here in Monroe, WI, after being on my own for five weeks. That was scary! Some nice people kept an eye out for me but I was too scared to come near them. So they called a wonderful lady who is an expert at recovering skittish dogs like me. She never gave up and eventually she trapped me. What a relief! It feels so good to be safe and out of the rain and cold and thunderstorms. You see, I am kind of a princess - made to be loved and pampered and to play, not to fight for survival. I’m a happy goofy girl. I love to roll in the grass and I make silly grunts when I play. I’m very curious and have to thoroughly sniff and examine every inch of my new surroundings. I’m a good girl and smart too! I’ve never had an accident in the house and I learned quickly how to ring the “potty bells” to let my foster family know I need to go out. I’ve learned how to go for walks on a leash too. There are other dogs here and I get along well with all of them. We love to run and play together and I’m always respectful of their boundaries and when they need to take a break. My favorite thing to do is to lie in the sun in the fenced back yard. I haven’t met any cats or other small pets. I don’t live with any small children, but I’ve met some and let them pet me through the baby gate. My perfect forever family will have a securely fenced yard where I can play and nap and maybe another nice dog to be my friend. Oh, and they should have treats… lots of treats! I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and I weigh just under 20 lbs. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in a perfect little girl like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can tell if we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet. I’d love that!
