Story
Meet Max Mailman! Little Max's mom fell asleep in her recliner and sadly never woke up. Friends of ours from the San Diego House Rabbit Society were called to her house, because her rabbits were micro-chipped to their organization. They retrieved the rabbits and offered to help place her beloved dog, Max, too. They called us, and Max became a Frosted Face on November 9, 2022. He is 14 years old and weighs 20 lbs. We've had a bunch of Frosted Faces named "Max", so he got the fun nickname Max Mailman because he is so friendly, and his ears are in the wind as he "rushes from house to house," more like person to person seeking pets in the yard! Like many seniors, Max is vision impaired, but he at least sees shadows. It doesn't slow him down either! Max Mailman loves going on our weekly FFF hikes, and he glides along the trails gracefully with his long legs. He acts younger than his years! Max is a super sweet, fun-sized guy who has lived with bunnies, dogs, cats, and horses! He has been living in a Foster home since December while he waits for his forever family. His Foster Mom shares: "Max is the perfect companion! He just wants to be close to his person. He enjoys laying on the couch with me, but he also sleeps in his dog bed. Max is very friendly with people and is always wagging his tail. He does so well in a home! Max seems to like all food and likes to be left alone while eating. He loves to run when he is outside to go potty. While he does sometimes have accidents inside, it's manageable by taking him outside frequently and using diapers. Max doesn't like my cats, because due to his poor vision, he can't always see when they're nearby. He will try to chase them if he sees one, but he's too slow for them though! Max is a great guy, very quiet and always ready to give kisses & tail wags. He just wants someone to love. He follows me around the house all the time. He loves hanging out in the kitchen. He enjoys napping most of the day and sleeps well through the night." Max Mailman has a great foster home, but he is still looking for his forever home. Might it be with YOU?

Story
Meet Feebee! Feebee was adopted back in 2013. She and her family had many great years together, but then her mom and dad had a baby and moved into a new house. Both were a tough adjustment for Feebee, by then a senior, and vision and hearing impaired. Juggling the care of a toddler and a dog was too much for them. On September 11th, Feebee became a Frosted Face. She is 14 years old and weighs 13 lbs. Feebee is a very gentle, sweet girl who loves every person she meets! She enjoys being petted, sitting on laps, and cuddling. Feebee is good with cats and other dogs. She enjoys car rides and is a perfect companion to run errands, go to a coffee shop, and eat on a restaurant patio with! Feebee still enjoys going on walks and exploring with her nose. Feebee went on a two-week Frosted Fling, and her fling family offered to give her a Foster home until she is adopted! We are so happy Feebee is enjoying extra TLC in the comforts of a home. Her Foster Mom shares: "Feebee is a sweet, tender girl who just wants to hang with the family. She is cute as a button, comfortable with other dogs, and a great eater. She is crate trained and will let you know if she needs to go potty. Feebee is an excellent walker, especially for a mostly blind dog!"

Story
Meet Yogi! Last October, we rescued Yogi from Baldwin Park Shelter, where he had been brought as a stray. He is 12 years old, weighs 16 lbs., and is a fun and quirky little guy. With more than 6 months of waiting for a family, Yogi has been at Frosted Faces Foundation longer than any other little dog. Might you be the understanding forever family Yogi needs? To help us find the right match for Yogi, one of our volunteers took him on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home setting. Here's what she shared with us about their time together: "Yogi is ready for a forever home. A little patience pays off. He is a sweet dog who really wants loving. He likes attention after he learns to trust you. Yogi ate Turkey Stew Hill's canned food and boiled chicken. Because he has no teeth, he uses his gums and floppy tongue, so he needs a bigger bowl. Yogi is a foodie and put on some needed weight during our Fling. He got so excited as l prepared his dinner that he started dancing around the kitchen! Yogi loves going outside. I've come to find out he is potty trained. As long as he goes outside every few hours, he is okay. He walks to the door but does not vocally alert you that he needs to go. Yogi seems to get along with any animal he has contact with. He got along perfectly well with my mini Schnauzer and even wagged his tail when my cat came up to him. His hearing and sight is somewhat limited, but he knows where his bed is and even puts himself in his soft enclosure at night. Yogi doesn't have separation anxiety while I'm gone. Yogi sleeps a lot and wants to be in whatever room the humans are in. He would do great in a home with another chill dog. Can you resist the Yogi look? He is ready for a forever home. " Shortly after returning from his Fling, Yogi went to live in a Foster home while he waits for a forever family of his own. We received a great first report from his Foster Mom: "Yogi has been doing GREAT in my home as a foster. He has settled in nicely, gets along great with my dog as well as around other dogs and cats we've visited. He still is a little reactive when being touched around his neck and head (perhaps from prior trauma and being a stray?) and being picked up, but he is getting more used to me and comfortable around me so it's getting easier. He just needs time and patience. Yogi is the sweetest boy. He sleeps and eats alot. He started doing zoomies when I get home from work now, too. This makes me soooo happy!" Story
Meet Yolo! Yolo entered Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on December 16th to become a Frosted Face. Yolo is around 14 years old, weighs 17 lbs., and is very sweet. Shortly after Yolo arrived, he left on a two-week Frosted Fling for the holidays. We are so grateful to his Fling Family for extending their time with Yolo, so he could recover from surgery on January 9th to repair a perineal hernia. He was also neutered. Fortunately, Yolo came through surgery very well, did not bother the incisions, and was able to stop wearing an e-collar much earlier than planned. He is so much healthier and happier than he was two months ago! Thanks to Yolo's Fling Family, we have learned a lot about what he is like in a home setting with other dogs and the type of care he needs to thrive. They share: "Yolo loves a good cuddle. He is wonderful with adults, but because of his vision he does startle if someone approaches him without giving a verbal cue, but he has never reacted badly. Yolo prefers to eat with our other dogs but never guards his food (even when they steal pieces from him). He is a member of the clean bowl club, always finishes his food but does not try to steal the food from other dogs. He also prefers to eat his kibble from a snuffle mat instead of a bowl, plays with a food toy and shares it with his Fling "sister. Yolo's exercise tolerance is limited to less than 1/4 mile. Because of his visual impairment, he needs to be watched carefully, so that he does not bump into sharp bushes/objects or fall off curbs. He would do well with a halo harness. He does not do well on stairs (he "surfed down a few steps on his belly because he could not see the height/depth of the stair going down. He does not attempt to climb stairs, possibly due to some hip or shoulder arthritis. Mostly we carry him down anything more than 3 steps). We use baby gates to protect him from unsupervised stair surfing. Yolo would do well in a single story home or a home where there are few steps. Yolo does well with dogs his size, and has had no reactivity to them even when they are reactive or aggressive towards him. He just gets out of harm's way. He does want to snuggle with the other dogs when they let him. He is a little timid around big dogs because he can't see them so we limit his exposure only to big dogs that we know well. He does not join in barking even when our other dogs are barking at deliverymen. His only barking has been when he is hungry or when he needs to go out to potty. He rides in the car with our two dogs with no problem and sits in his place. Yolo is an excellent traveler, he makes himself comfortable on the van floor (of our Sprinter van, between the front seats) with his buddy or on the passenger's lap, with no fuss at all. He went all the way to Oregon, and back over a 2-week trip. Yolo was a perfect house guest, with no accidents or issues with a new environment (he liked joining in with his pals when barking at squirrels and quail). He loved exploring the yard, sniffing around the travel rest stops and exploring our Harvest Host wineries (being a French poode, he loves the cafe scene, of course, and was a perfect gentleman while we had our wine tastings). Yolo seems so much happier and healthier over the last 6 weeks. We really want to find a forever family who would love and appreciate this mellow little fellow." Yolo feels like a new man and is ready for a loving home where he will be cherished for the rest of his life. Might that be with you?

*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Padre! 8-year-old Padre needs a loving new home. His mom recently moved to assisted living, and sadly, he can't go with her. She describes Padre as her "most beloved friend" and is heartbroken about having to rehome him. They have been together since she rescued Padre when he was 4 weeks old. He is now 8 years old and is very healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations. Padre is a sweet and mellow homebody, who also enjoys going for car rides and walks. He loves people and is very enthusiastic when his mom has visitors. He has lived with other dogs most of his life, but tends to be scared of new dogs. After being carefully introduced and given time to feel safe with the new dog, Padre will make a new friend. Padre is house-trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He is used to going to bed at 9:00 pm and sleeps throug the night. If you are looking for a gentle, loving companion, please consider adopting Padre! To learn more, please contact Sharon by texting 619-504-9308 or emailing a99accord@outlook.com. *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
Meet Houseboat Henry! 8-year-old Henry was entrusted to our care through our Final Wish Program after advanced Parkinson's Disease left his mom unable to care for her beloved boy any longer. Adorable Henry arrived on March 24th and immediately went on a two-week Frosted Fling which helped us learn what he is like in a home. Spoiler alert: his Fling Mom reports the Henry is an "all-around perfect, huggable, and lovable dog!" Here is what else Henry's Fling Mom shared: "Henry would be a lovable, easy-going addition to any potential adopter. He loves being petted, sitting in the sun, and hanging in the yard. He is perfect in the car, naps while driving, and sits up to sre when car stops. And he doesn't mind being brushed! Henry is a gentle little guy. He was fine with my small dog, and no jumping on people. Henry loves to be by you but not necessarily on top of your lap. Not a barker except at trash truck and crow that comes into yard. He is very mellow. Henry enjoys going for walks and has great leash manners. He is a well-behaved companion that you can take to stores and restaurants. Houseboat Henry is amazing and continued to surprise me with his expressions and silly antics. He would make the best buddy and is ready to meet his forever family. He's a gem!" Houseboat Henry is currently on a second Fling while he waits for his forever home! Might it be with you?
