Story
Current Location: Alexandria, VA Meet Dina: A Soft-Hearted Doodle Mix Ready to Bond Deeply with You Dina is a 3 year old, 60 pound doodle mix with a soft heart and an even softer desire to bond deeply with her person. Once she decides you're her human, she becomes a total Velcro dog, happy to follow you around, lean in for affection, and soak up every bit of love you offer. Smart and Well-Trained Dina is both crate trained and potty trained, and she already knows an impressive list of cues: sit, paw, crate, leave it, place, gentle, and wait. She's treat motivated, eager to learn, and already improving her leash manners. She's working on loose leash walking, recall, and polite doorway behavior, showing just how capable and willing she is to be the best companion she can be. Joyful Explorer Outdoors, Dina is a joyful explorer who loves zoomies, crunching icy snow chunks, and trotting around the yard, even when the ground is slippery. She's resilient, curious, and always ready for the next adventure. She's been appropriate with other dogs she's met and shows curiosity, but no reactivity, toward wildlife like birds and squirrels. Building Trust Dina can be cautious with new people. But with patience, calm energy, and a few tossed treats, she warms up beautifully, sometimes within minutes. Once she realizes someone is safe, she transforms into a snuggly, affectionate companion who paws gently for more pets. Watching her personality blossom is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll have. Best Home Fit This sweet girl thrives with structure, reassurance, and a person who understands that confidence takes time. In return, she'll offer unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the joy of watching her grow into the confident, loving companion she's meant to be. If you're looking for a loving, devoted companion who just wants to feel safe and cherished, Dina may be your perfect match. Apply today!

Story
hi Babette, this lovely girl is an approx. 4 year old mixed breed. We suspect she is a Bouvier and Poodle mix but your guess is as good as ours. She was abandoned at a police station and brought to the local animal control shelter . She is about 60 lbs. We do not know what her past was but she is thriving now! When she first entered the animal control shelter she was extremely guarded, nervous and fearful. Thankfully, with our volunteers she has done a total 180 and is so much fun! She has been affectionate, silly and friendly, though she can still be nervous sometimes around new people. She can also be pretty stubborn when she refuses to do something (like walk back to the kennel). She is looking for experienced dog home, without young children. Babette has been doing amazing at the rescue - she is often found playing around with our larger dogs. She is also handled without issues by all of our volunteers (male and female). She was briefly adopted but then returned to us. The adopter let us know that she was not doing well with the men in the house and would once again be very guarded around them. She needs an experienced home that will help her through the adjustment period until she is comfortable. She would need to meet any resident dogs but has been playful and friendly in playgroups with dogs of similar size and energy. She will come spayed, vaccinated, 4dx tested and microchipped. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com Her adoption fee is $475. Story
Meet Sheila! Sheila is a 5-year-old, 17-pound Poodle who has finally gotten her chance at a better life. She was surrendered from a puppy mill when she was no longer wanted, and now she’s ready to discover what love and comfort truly mean. Sheila is a good girl who allows all handling, but it’s no surprise that she’s shy and scared with very little confidence after her past. Beneath that timid exterior is a gentle soul who just needs time, patience, and kindness to blossom. She’s looking for a loving, patient home, and would do best with another social dog to help her learn the ropes and build confidence. With the right family, Sheila will transform from a quiet observer into a cherished companion. She would need to meet any resident dogs. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. She is also scheduled for a dental evaluation and will receive it as the vet deems necessary. If you have room in your heart for a sweet girl who deserves a second chance, apply today at www.phoenixanimalrescue.com and help Sheila start her new chapter. Her adoption fee is $500. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, My Name is Oreo Kisses, (and yes, I love to give lots of kisses) I am a 8-year-old Male, Mini Poodle weighing in at 16.22 lbs. I came into rescue due to an ER visit of bloody diarrhea, and my mom couldn’t afford the bill to get my evaluation, since she had just gone thru some life changes. So the ER vet contacted PLPR and now I'm living my best life with my foster family. Grooming for me should be about every 6 to 8 weeks. I am fully vaccinated and bloodwork, fecal, accuplex checked with all looking good. The rescue had me neutered and took care of my dental issues too! I am crate trained, house trained, leash trained, and love to go on car rides. I love other dogs, even medium sized ones. I love to sleep on the couch snuggled next to you or on your lap and even in the human bed if you will let me. I am sometime timid if you raise your voice which my previous owner did mention was due to an abusive situation she was in. Oh and I love toys too! Won't you be my forever friend!?! To adopt Oreo Kisses, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($350 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle!
