Story
Hello there potential paw parents. My name is Spice and I am a purebred 4 year 8 month old female Shar Pei. I look a little different than most Shar Pei because I have what they call a bear coat. It's the longest of the three different types of Shar Pei coats and is somewhat rare. I am red/golden/orange/chestnut in color and weigh from 26 to 60 lbs. I came from a breeder situation to Golden Paws, and I am very timid with men. I do better with women though. I get along with other dogs, but I do need time to warm up to them. I really like the Hoomans that take care of me here; you know, the ones who feed me and see me on a daily basis. But, that's the way everyone is when they meet new people or go to new places to live, isn't it? Everyone just needs a little time to get used to things. If you're not familiar with Shar Pei,we started out in southern China about 2200 years ago. We were originally bred by peasants for herding, guarding and hunting. We're still noted for our loyalty and bravery. We are also noted for being devoted to our families. This makes us very good watchdogs. So, what do you say? I have been spayed, I've had all my shots, and I'm ready to go. Just fill out an application and come down to meet me. I really think that once you do, you're going to fall in love with me. I hope to see you soon. Love, Spice

Hello potential paw parents! My name is Faye, and I am an 8 year 6 month old female Shar Pei who is looking for her forever home and forever Hooman. I come from a breeder situation, and therefore, I am very timid with men. I do much better bonding with women. I get along fine with other dogs, but I will need a little time to warm up to them. I need a little time to warm up to people as well. The folks here have been working to socialize me and I am making progress. New places, new people; it all takes time I need a Hooman who will make the effort to socialize and train me. Once I am comfortable with you and get to know you, I will love your attention, believe me. If you are not familiar with Shar Pei, we are famous for our wrinkled skin, which served as our protection over 2200 years ago when we were trained to be guard dogs in China .Our temperament has been described as being affectionate, but reserved. I am a medium sized dog, which means 26 to 60lbs in size. My coat is red/golden/orange/and chestnut. So potential paw parents, why don't you fill out an application and come on in for a visit. I've been spayed, I've had all my shots, and I'm ready to go. After we look each other over, I'll bet we decide that we have a great future together. I hope to see you real soon! Love, Faye

Story
Hello potential fur baby adopters. My name is Sid and I am a three-year-old, male, Bull Terrier/ Welsh Corgi mix. I have the best of two breeds. Bull Terriers are known for being playful, affectionate and loyal companions. General Patton and Teddy Roosevelt both had Bull Terriers. As for the Welsh Corgis, we are known for being intelligent and energetic. Queen Elizabeth II had 30 Corgis during her lifetime. I am black and white and medium-sized, that is, from 26 to 60 lbs. I am affectionate and playful with both Hoomans and other dogs. I get really excited when playtime comes, but sometimes I just like to chill out and maybe get my ears rubbed. That's my idea of a great time. So, what do you say? This is your chance to outdo General Patton and Teddy Roosevelt and Queen Elizabeth II. When they walked their dog friends, they walked a Bull Terrier or a Welsh Corgi. Now, you can walk both at the same time. I've been neutered, I've had all my shots, and it's time for me to find my new forever home and forever Hooman. Fill out an application, come in for a visit and let's start our lives together. I'll be waiting for you! Love, Sid

Story
Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. Story
Hi folks! Beetlejuice here! No, don’t worry about saying my name three times; that’s another guy. I am a brown and white male Boxer/mixed breed dog who was left here at Golden Paws. I’m not sure how old I am, because my prior hooman left me out in the yard without telling anyone. I do love people very much and even though at 60 to 100 lbs when I’m full grown I’m a big boy, I imagine myself as a lap dog. But, if you don’t have an industrial strength lap, I’m just as happy laying beside your chair and getting pets and giving kisses. Although I love everyone once I get to know them, I’m very comfortable with women right from the start. I guess that’s because I’ve been around more women than men. So, what do you say? Fill out an application and come see me. Spend a little time with me so we can be Pals for the rest of our lives. I’m the dog you’ve always wanted. When you come here, just say my name three times (Got Ya). LOVE BEETLEJUICE
