Story
Meet Koko. This senior man is a true introvert and has us all a little perplexed. He has no desire to bond with people but is tolerant when forced to spend time with them. Will Koko give you cuddles? No. Will he want to spend time with you and your family on the couch? No. Does he even want to come inside the house? Not really. Would he enjoy being fed regularly? Yes. Would he like a comfy dog house in a nice yard or on some land he can roam? Absolutely! It’s not often that we recommend a dog be adopted as an outside dog but we do think he’d be happiest if that was the arrangement. He's a real lone wolf. He is very good on a leash though and we think he would enjoy daily walks - which might be a good way to develop a bond with him. Bonus points if the walks are in the snow - he LOVES snow! While Koko is not looking for anyone, he has to have someone to at least be kind to him and provide him the basics. So, we are looking for a home for Koko that understands his desire to do his own thing and maybe offer a head pat or two when Koko wants it. And, who knows maybe as time goes on Koko will learn how nice it is to be a part of a family that wants to include him in their lives. But, until that day comes, he needs someone to love and accept him just the way he is. Don't we all? If Koko sounds like a dog you would be interested in caring for, apply to meet him today!

Story
Bubba Things you’ll love: Bubba is smart and very loyal to his people. He really loves to lay down at the foot of the bed and spoon with a human which is just maybe one of the most incredible feelings in the world. He’s independent and will check in every once and awhile. He loves to be outside and he loves putting his head in your chest while you cover his head. I’m sure you will discover many other funny things about him. …but really if you wanna make him the happiest tell him it’s time to go on a walk. He will grumble and wag his whole body. Bubba is a quiet dog unless he is alerted to someone at the door. He doesn’t bark with a passerby. Bubba has been around many dogs, but in my opinion, he would be best as a lone dog or with a calm dog that will give him space. Bubba has lived with and done well with cats.  Things to work on: leash walking. he pulls because he’s just so dang excited. He doesn’t dig but he pushes his back legs back when he’s outside. It’s also funny.December 6, 2025, 8:52 pm

Story
Meet Gertrude! Gertrude is an adorable 5–6-year-old, 56-lb Shar-Pei/American Bulldog mix who is ready to find her forever family—a family that will appreciate her gentle heart, her calm nature, and all the love she has to give. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other relaxed, easygoing dogs and is currently thriving in a foster home with four mellow canine friends. Rambunctious or dominant dogs aren’t really her style, and she has not been evaluated with cats. Gertrude has been around children and does wonderfully, especially with older, dog-savvy kids who enjoy giving her attention. With her intuitive, people-focused personality, Gertrude may even have the potential to become an emotional support or therapy dog with a bit of training. She is incredibly attuned to human emotions and loves being close, especially when someone needs comfort. If you are looking for a loyal best friend, a laid-back snuggle buddy, and a daily source of smiles… Gertrude is your girl. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Gertrude has been diagnosed with dry eye, which requires lifelong daily eye drops. Fortunately, she’s extremely easy to medicate—and the drops are affordable (around $30/month). She knows they help her feel better! Story
Meet Muppet! This handsome 4-year-old boy is ready to steal hearts and find his true forever home! Muppet originally came to us as a stray in 2023 and, through no fault of his own, has found his way back into our care. Now, he’s on the lookout for the perfect family to love him forever. Muppet is a playful guy who lives for a good game of tug-of-war! By day two in foster care, he had already convinced his foster brother to join in on the fun (they’re still trying to decide who the champion really is ). He would be happiest in a home with another playful dog buddy, though he’d do well as a solo pup too if he gets plenty of playtime and love. When he’s not busy showing off his tug-of-war skills, Muppet enjoys leisurely walks, but his true happy place? A backyard where he can run, stretch out, and soak up the sunshine&#226&#152&#128&#239&#184&#143—so we’re making a fenced yard a must-have for this sweet guy.    Muppet is up to date on vaccines, has had recent bloodwork which the vet was very happy with, and is all set to start his new chapter. Like many Shar Pei, he does have some allergies, so he’ll need routine skin and ear care—but he’s a champ about it. He’s proven to be trustworthy in the house (not a fan of the kennel, but who can blame him?). While he hasn’t been around much kids in foster care, we don’t see any concerning behavior and believe he’d do just fine with dog-savvy children. He did meet a few kiddos on Halloween and loved them! &#226&#156&#168 Muppet has so much love to give and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and sunshine to his forever family. Could that be you?&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 He is currently fostered in Rapid City, South Dakota Please visit www.peipeople.com to fill out an application   December 4, 2025, 3:06 pm

Story
Meet Jack! This sweet senior boy graduated from our PACK program 7 years ago! And he still knows some of the tricks from that time. He's great at sit, shake, and lie down! He can even do a roll over but his old man hips don't love that move. He's a quiet boy and housetrained. He does howl when left alone, but only for a few minutes. It's his way of saying "See you Later!" He will need to meet any potential new dog siblings as he can be a bit picky. He should not go to a home with kitty cats! You can apply to meet this sweet boy today!

Meet Curly! He is a graduate of our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and he is ready to show off his new skills! His new abilities include 'sit', 'wave', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Active | Affectionate | Quirky Personality | Best with Active Lifestyle Curly is a high-energy, affectionate pup with a big personality and lots of love to give. He thrives on attention, activity, and outdoor time—and he’s always up for an adventure, whether it’s a morning run, a car ride, or just lounging in the sun with a good stick. Energy & Exercise Needs Curly is an active dog who needs daily physical activity to stay happy and well-behaved. He currently enjoys morning runs and sometimes an afternoon walk or play session. If he doesn't get enough exercise, he may chew or get into things indoors, but a well-run Curly is a calm and cuddly one by evening. Leash Behavior Curly walks best with a nose-lead leash, as he can be strong and persistent on a standard one. He occasionally pulls to chase wildlife or to greet people and dogs, but he's learning to redirect with guidance. He’s food-motivated, which helps with training—he’ll do almost anything for a piece of chicken! Socialization With People: Curly is loyal and curious, often following his person from room to room. While not aggressive, he can be protective at home and may bark at strangers, especially men. After brief introductions and calm corrections, he quickly warms up and returns to his playful self. With Kids: He doesn't gravitate toward children but shows no signs of aggression or nervousness around them—he simply keeps his distance. With Dogs: He’s playful and confident with dogs his size and enjoys fence running with neighbor dogs. He hasn't been introduced to small dogs yet, and his play style may come off as dominant but not aggressive. Apply to meet him today!

Story
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT *** Meet Fish! She is a recent graduate of our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'High Five', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Fish is full of positive energy! She is always ready for an adventure. Whether that be with her humans or other dogs. She gets along with all dogs she's met, large and small and does fine sharing her toys with them. She can be a bit afraid of inanimate objects, such as brooms and mops. But if she is able to approach them on her own terms she settles. Fish needs positive reinforcements. She's quite silly this way. She's a people pleaser and is very focused when there are tasty treats involved. She has been on a sensitive skin and stomach food, and her skin is in good condition. We assume she has some allergies, as her skin gets red and itchy when she is on different food. It's best to keep her on this food. She does well in her kennel at PACK. Fish was curious about cats when she met them. They attempted to smack her, and she backed off and kept her distance. With supervision and training, she might be ok to live with them. Fishy is ready to find her new home by Christmas! So, apply to meet her today!
