Story
Bonnie is a 2 year old Aussie shepherd/sheltie mix female. She is only 25 pounds and does not mind being an only dog. She is dog selective but prefers males and will play non stop. She is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and spayed and ready to go to her new home. She jumps up a lot. Working on the jumping but part of that is her young energy. She loves to kiss people and likes sitting outside when it is sunny. This is one girl that loves belly rubs.  To adopt Bonnie, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org so we can see if you are a good match. She is a bit of an escape artist. Her adoption fee is $350. Any questions, please email marty@pawsandprayers.org.  Professional photography donated by Rusty Cerveny https://youpic.com/rusty_cerveny   January 8, 2026, 6:42 am

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Wylie. I'm about 12 weeks old and I weigh about 14 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet pup. I would do best with a family that can provide me with training and socialization to help make me the best dog I can be when I grow up. I am still a baby, so my new family will still need to complete all of my training and I will also need work with potty training. If you're looking for a sweet pup to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Welcome to Heart's Promise Sheltie Rescue and please give a huge welcome to our new gal MADDY. Maddy is a Sheltie Puppy 1 year old and will be turning 2 years on December 1, 2025. She is a taller and very active gal at 41 pounds and loves to play. Maddy is an affectionate, extremely smart youngster. She is very curious and loves her yard. Maddy is very athletic and can turn on a dime. With proper training she could excel in agility or fly ball. Maddy, does, however, require ongoing socialization and obedience. She is housebroken but requires reinforcement as she was often "tied out" for lengthy periods of time in her past home. She's very active and friendly and is just learning how to be part of her foster family (dog and human.) She would do well with older children, but may be too strong for younger children or toddlers. Maddy is very friendly with the other dogs in her foster home and loves to play. Cats are questionable and she may like to chase the cats for play but she is a very gentle sheltie girl by nature. Training will be a must, but the effort will be worth it. This girl is a diamond in the "ruff." Maddy is being fostered in the Waynesboro, PA area (near Gettysburg PA) . This sheltie pup will need a SECURE FENCED IN YARD...and no exceptions. (Please do not inquire if you do not have a secure fenced in yard). We adopt to forever homes here in the state of PA and will consider adoption homes just over the PA state line, but we do not do long distance adoptions. Inquiries can be emailed to: mikelamontshelties@gmail.com or a reply here to this post on this adoption site. Adoption applications can be download from our Heart's Promise Sheltie Rescue website at: pasheltierescue.org or contact me directly by email at: mikelamontshelties@gmail.com
