Story
Welcome to Heart's Promise Sheltie Rescue and please give a huge welcome to our new gal MADDY. Maddy is a Sheltie Puppy 1 year old and will be turning 2 years on December 1, 2025. She is a taller and very active gal at 41 pounds and loves to play. Maddy is an affectionate, extremely smart youngster. She is very curious and loves her yard. Maddy is very athletic and can turn on a dime. With proper training she could excel in agility or fly ball. Maddy, does, however, require ongoing socialization and obedience. She is housebroken but requires reinforcement as she was often "tied out" for lengthy periods of time in her past home. She's very active and friendly and is just learning how to be part of her foster family (dog and human.) She would do well with older children, but may be too strong for younger children or toddlers. Maddy is very friendly with the other dogs in her foster home and loves to play. Cats are questionable and she may like to chase the cats for play but she is a very gentle sheltie girl by nature. Training will be a must, but the effort will be worth it. This girl is a diamond in the "ruff." Maddy is being fostered in the Belle Vernon / Pittsburgh, PA area. This sheltie pup will need a SECURE FENCED IN YARD...and no exceptions. (Please do not inquire if you do not have a secure fenced in yard). We adopt to forever homes here in the state of PA and will consider adoption homes just over the PA state line, but we do not do long distance adoptions. Inquiries can be emailed to: mikelamontshelties@gmail.com or a reply here to this post on this adoption site. Adoption applications can be download from our Heart's Promise Sheltie Rescue website at: pasheltierescue.org or contact me directly by email at: mikelamontshelties@gmail.com

Story
Gabby is an 8 year old sable sheltie who is up to date on all vaccinations, is spayed, microchipped, she weighs 28 pounds and is ready for her new forever home. Gabby would do best in a quiet, adult-only home, where she can safely explore and receive the love and attention she deserves. A home that knows the sheltie breed and the herding dog breed would be the best for Gabby. She loves her walks and does great on her leash. Gabby is an independent and loyal girl who enjoys sitting near her foster family in the evenings. She likes to be the queen of the house and can be a little bossy and thus she would do best as an only dog in her new forever home. We’re not sure about cats, but a home with kitties would be best. Gabby is currently on medications to help with her anxiety. Gabby lost her human parent and is in need of a new forever home. Gabby is currently in a house with 2 other dogs and is guarded around these pups. Gabby doesn't play with toys but does enjoy sitting outside in the fresh air and enjoying the fenced in backyard. Gabby is being fostered in the HARRISBURG, PA area and please note her location here in PA and her foster home location. HPSR covers the state of PA, and our foster homes are located throughout the state of PA. Gabby will need a SECURE FENCED IN YARD...and no exceptions. (Please do not inquire if you do not have a secure fenced in yard). We adopt to forever homes here in the state of PA and will consider adoption homes just over the PA state line, but we do not do long distance adoptions. Story
Hi, I’m Glow. I’m about nine weeks old and everyone thinks I’m a corgi–Pomeranian mix, (*DNA results are pending) which means I come with a herding brain, a bold little personality, and a whole lot of spark. I’m not expected to be a large dog, but I absolutely have large-dog attitude packed into a compact body. My herding instincts are already showing, so I’ll grow into a moderate to high energy dog who thrives on movement, routines, and enrichment. I’m confident, curious, and quick to learn. I pay attention, adjust fast, and I’m already crate trained and doing great with house training. Because I’m still learning all my manners, I’m not the best full-time match for human babies or toddlers right now. I can be around them, but tiny humans and puppies learn at the same time, and I don’t always remember that people don’t love my little teeth on their ankles or my zoomy herding moves during play. I’m not aggressive. I’m just figuring out boundaries like any smart puppy. Older kids who understand dogs would be a great fit. Human seniors with limited mobility might find me too much, but active adults or active seniors who can keep up with me would make me very happy. I also need dog friends who can match my energy. Calm senior dogs would probably find me overwhelming at this stage of life, and it wouldn’t be fair to pair me with dogs who just want to relax. I do best with confident, playful dogs who enjoy moving, teaching, and having fun. ———————————————————- The adoption donation for Glow is $350. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). Glow will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract. If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowner’s Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. —————————- Our application can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com Our primary form of communication is email. Please check your spam/junk folder so you don’t miss any emails! We do send an automated email confirming we received your application. Our rescue email is run by volunteers and is not monitored 24/7. ————— **IMPORTANT ** Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Don’t waste your time clicking on it! Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23: Under a year - $350 cash/check $360 PayPal/Venmo Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check $260 PayPal/Venmo Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check $210 PayPal/Venmo We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee if you are using PayPal or Venmo. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Every dollar matters and those lost dollars means less dogs we can fund and help. We are a 100% volunteer group that utilizes foster homes. We do not have a shelter/building. Thank you for understanding.
