Story
RILEY Breed: Shetland Sheepdog Gender: Male Approximate DOB: 3/11/2019 Size: Medium Weight (Potential): 23 (23) Color: White/Brown Health: Has had total urogenital reconstruction surgery, and was born without a tail and with only a single kidney, prone to UTI's and needs blood work done every three months to check kidney values. Shedding: Moderate Grooming Needs: High Spayed/Neutered: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not recommended Good with Children: Not recommended. Best in an adult-only home Appropriate for city living: No Cost to adopt: $300 A secure, physical fence is required. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA. Meet Riley! This puppy mill survivor has had quite an adventure since he was rescued at eight weeks old. Riley is a sheltie and was born without a tail and had two holes where he would pass urine. When our volunteer went to pick him up at the puppy mill, he and his very under socialized siblings were hiding in the corner of a cardboard box. Since the other puppies looked normal, they were put up for sale and given to dealers to resell at pet stores or online. The puppy mill operator refused to give up any of the other puppies or Riley’s mother. She had produced 12 litters of puppies in six years. He operates legally in Pennsylvania. Diagnostics showed that Riley was not just born without a tail, but he was also born with only one kidney. This is a genetic issue. Thanks to the very best care from Dr. Niles and nurse Tiara at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, Riley had total urogenital reconstruction surgery, was treated for multiple urinary tract infections, has healed so well and since he is now UTI free for a few months is finally up for adoption! Riley is a typical sheltie. He likes to herd dogs and people, loves to play and is very smart. He can be a bit grabby and skittish due to his puppy mill background so an adult only home with a very secure fenced yard and another playful dog is best. Riley loves other dogs more than anything. Riley needs a very special and patient forever home. He has so much love to give and every day he blossoms into a more wonderful puppy. Riley is EXACTLY why puppy mill breeding for pet store sales is a problem and why we need Victoria’s Law here in Pennsylvania Riley is sweet, loving, and VERY playful! He will require basic obedience training. He is still just a puppy and is still working on his crate training and house breaking.* *All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking. Story
Calypso Female Sheltie/American Eskimo mix DOB: 5/26/2021 15 pounds Good with dogs Not recommended with cats Good with children age 12+ OMG OMG OMG MY NAME IS CALYPSO AND I WANT TO BE BEST FRIENDS AND PLAY AND HAVE FUN AND HAVE SNACKS AND THEN PLAY MORE!!!!! Ok, we will take over from here or else Calypso will just tell you all in one sentence in all caps with no punctuation at top speed all about herself. As you might be able to tell, this girl is all about high energy fun and play! Calypso is a bundle of happy energy and is looking for a forever home where she can be a free spirit but also have some fun doing some training (she needs a puppy training class, for sure). Calypso was born on a Pennsylvania farm where they casually breed for some extra money to sell online and to pet stores. Unfortunately, there is no proper genetic testing or breeding plan in place for their intact dogs so Calypso and one of her sisters in her litter were born with cataracts and could not be sold. Don’t worry…we made sure to have her mom spayed so she won’t produce anymore puppies with genetic conditions. Calypso has not received the memo that she has very small cataracts, even when the ophthalmologist said it! The only part she heard was that it is not causing her any issues and might never get any worse (not guaranteed-but Calypso doesn’t want to hear that part). Calypso wants a super fun forever home with another high energy playmate, a big fenced yard (fenced yard is a must) so she can do zoomies to her heart’s delight and a cozy couch and dog beds where she can cuddle up but also do some lap cuddle time because she loves that, too. If you want to smile, laugh and have high energy fun every day, Calypso is your girl! The first step is to submit an application at www.findingshelter.org.

Story
Biggie is a very sweet 1 yr old sheltie! He has never shown any kind of aggression but he is a little ball of energy! We got Biggie from a reputable breeder when he was 8 weeks old and he was house trained by 16 weeks. He's very smart and learns easily. We had an initial private training session at 12 weeks and enrolled him in puppy kindergarten around 16 weeks so we could begin training early. He knows many commands and he's easily motivated by training treats, learning new commands after 2-3 focus sessions. He does have trouble listening if he's outside and a squirrel or rabbit already has his attention. :) Or, if we're giving him a bath (which he's not a fan of) and he's feeling anxious. Unfortunately, my work schedule has taken off and I'll be required to travel more frequently, very soon. Additionally, his needs for energy output are already difficult for me to meet, only because I don't have a yard and he must be leashed & walked every time he's outside.

Story
Hi, I'm Samuel! I am a distinguished older chap looking for my furever home. I am an easygoing fellow and would be happy just to have companionship and a cozy place to live. I am open to living with other animals with proper introduction. I do have some mild handling sensitivity, especially with restraint, so I do ask that any kids are 8 and older. Although I am a senior, I have plenty to offer so don't miss your chance at a charming pup like me!---Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, meet and greet appointments are highly recommended. If you are interested in meeting an animal please contact us via email at Lancaster@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process and to set a meet and greet appointment.

Story
Lennox, aka Lenni has been by my side for 8 years. My family bought her, and she has lived on my family farm most of her life. At this point in my young adult life, I cannot give her the best life she deserves. She is a three legged force of nature, very spirited, loving, funny, sassy, sweet. She loves meeting new people. She is a high energy dog, definitely needs a lot of stimulation, mentally and physically. She is 8 years young, and not slowing down. Approximately a year ago, she got in a tiff with one of my horses, and ultimately lost one of her back legs. She does very well as a tripod, almost even better than she was before. She does have separation anxiety, but I have not talked to a vet about it.She does well with other dogs that are respectful, she is sensitive to younger dogs that are over excited. She loves meeting new, calm dogs. She does not like cats at all, and I’m not sure why. She loves children, and will particularly seek them out to play. She is obsessed with balls.
