Story
Cashew and Almond are gorgeous puppy mills survivors. They were rescued by Best Friends from a 'Horrible Hundred' puppy mill and brought to Utah. Almond is an adorable, playful, sweet 10 month old male sheltie. Cashew is a shy, reserved, independent and fearful 4 year old female sheltie. We don't know their exact relationship to each other, but they get along great. Almond has youth on his side, so he has been able to put most of his early trauma behind him. While he is still scared of new people and things, once he's comfortable he is sweet and playful. You will find him zooming around your yard, playing with other dogs, or snuggled in your lap. Cashew, being older, has had a much harder time adjusting to her new life. She still thinks people and human touch are terrifying and is most content being allowed to explore at her own pace. She is often found nestled in her crate, or palling around with Almond. This special pair will require a dog savvy family, ideally experienced with fearful dogs and positive training techniques. While Almond is well on his way to being a 'normal' dog, Cashew may always remain timid and fearful of humans. Almond loves playing with toys, and carrying his treaures around. He is mastering potty training, and is good in a crate. True to his sheltie personality, he is sensitive and alert. He is still getting used to a leash, but is loving experiencing the world. Cashew's personality is just starting to show, she likes snuggling with her bear toy and being with Almond. She currently isnt able to be touched or petted, but is content to move around when you ask her to. She is housebroken and crate trained and quiet as a mouse.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Their adoption fee is $325. If you are interested in adopting Almond and Cashew, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-application. Story
Meet Merlin, an incredibly sweet and handsome mix of the two corgis (Pembroke/Cardigan) originally from a particularly gross Nebraska puppy mill where he had lived his entire life as a breeder. His first month in foster was spent recovering from pneumonia caught during the long transport. But that's all behind him now!Merlin loves home life and his foster siblings; he is super gentle with his foster chihuahua sister. He startles easily and is still skittish but loves treats, dinner, fluffy toys, THE BED and hanging out with his foster ma in her home office. He is progressing steadily with leash and house training and enjoys car rides.Merlin's perfect home looks something like this: - No young children please (sudden movements and loud noises! Plus he likes to chew things left on the floor) - Securely fenced yard (for his safety; he loves exploring but cannot be trusted off leash) - Another confident, calm dog in the house to teach him 'normal dog' stuff - Tons of patience, understanding (and ideally experience with shy dogs) who will actively help him become the bestest, most confident boy he can be - A solid commitment to help him embrace his inner goof (HE IS) while showing him that life with humans isn't so awful. His adoption fee is $200, which covers his vetting, neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. If you're interested in adopting Merlin, please submit an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Please allow up to 48 hours for processing. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Triceratops is a 6 month old male collie mix. He will be a big boy, best estimate is that he will be 70-80 pounds fully grown. He is a happy puppy with medium energy. He is very treat motivated and loves playing with new toys. His favorite are stuffed toys. He is good with all dogs, and dog savvy cats. He is very excited to meet new dog and cat friends and just wants to play with them. He has lived in a house with kids before and does well with them. But older children is preferred because he likes to jump and can knock small children down.    Triceratops is crate trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night, but may whine a little initially. He is house trained but would need a refresher when he gets into his forever home. He is pretty good on a leash, with more walks he will a pro in no time. He is working on his basic commands but he knows sit and down. If you are looking for a happy, loving, and friendly companion please apply for Triceratops at  https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 5:29 pm
