Story
Meet Leia (A5743131) — a breathtaking 2-year-old silver sable German Shepherd who urgently needs her forever home. Leia is currently at Castaic Animal Care Center in Santa Clarita, CA, and her time is critically limited—she has been issued a 72-hour plea. Leia is a sweet, petite girl at just 51 pounds. From the moment you meet her, she charms everyone with her friendly, playful nature. She adores human connection and happily seeks affection from staff and volunteers—rolling over for belly rubs, soaking up snuggles, and leaning in for love. 💕 Highly intelligent and eager to please, Leia is already picking up basic obedience and leash manners. While she tends to display dominance and hasn’t enjoyed playtime with other dogs in the shelter environment, she is currently being recommended as an only dog. Leia deserves a safe, loving home where she can thrive and finally feel secure. If you’ve been looking for a loyal, affectionate companion, she may be the one waiting for you. Leia is available for in-person adoptions at the Castaic Shelter; however, Ollie's Angels Animal Welfare Society can assist with adopters who are not local to the area. Story
After 5 months of dedicated training in foster care, Penny is a beautiful 2-year-old, Chessie/German Shepherd mix, ready for her forever person. Penny is a dream companion—calm and obedient at home and in a secure yard, with a loving, loyal nature and a strong desire to make her humans happy. Penny is a total rockstar of a dog—smart, eager, and incredibly in tune with her person. She’s a fast learner who already knows all her basic commands, including sit, down, shake, stay, heel, wait, come, and touch. On leash, Penny shines with excellent manners and focused attention, making walks feel effortless. She’s highly responsive, loves to engage, and truly thrives when she’s working alongside her handler. If you’re looking for a dog who’s both brilliant and deeply connected, Penny is it. Penny’s accomplishments include: • Excellent leash skills—perfect for walks and hikes • Solid obedience • Crate-trained, house-trained, and respectful in the home • Loves fetch, playtime, and anything involving water • People-friendly, affectionate, and eager to please • A total cuddle bug who lives for back scratches • Due to Penny's high working drive, she would be best suited in an adult-only home (or with kids 13+) with either no other pets or calm dogs Penny is past the chaotic puppy phase but is still young, trainable, and eager to continue learning—truly the whole package. Ollie's Angels Animal Welfare Society has generously offered to fund a training session for Penny and her new adopters to help ensure a smooth transition into her new home. Story
I found Opal as a puppy in 2019, she stayed inside until she was about 8 months and since she’s been an outdoor dog. She is a very lovable girl however I can’t give her what she needs and would rather her be with someone that can. She’s very sweet she loves people, other animals and very gentle. She loves to go on walks, hangout, and play. I’d say Opal is a very “match your energy” kind of girl, she’ll dance with me, sit next to me while I work or stands with my mom while she’s in the garden. She had all her puppy shots and I took her to the vet for checkups until she was about 2/3 when I couldn’t take her anymore. It has been a couple years since then but she’s very healthy no change in appetite or behavior since then. She’s good with other dogs unless they annoy her she’ll bark. She’s good with kids but she needs supervision and she gets along with but doesn’t care for cats. Overall she’s a lovely dog and I want her to have everything she deserves :)
