You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Front L Leg AmputatedMeet Kenny! He's a 3-legged wonder dog with terrific ears and a whole lot of love to share! Kenny does great with people of all ages and loves everyone he meets. He tends to match other dogs' energies so he would do best in a home with a calmer but playful dog near his size or he could easily live as an only dog. When it comes to meeting other dogs, he will require a proper, controlled introduction. He is not a great match for someone looking for a "dog park type" dog. He will need a home without cats/small animals.  Kenny is potty trained and has already learned how to sit. Given his young age, his adopters will enjoy his FREE training class at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha that is included with his adoption fee. Kenny is such a smart pup, he's sure to be a star pupil! Kenny had his front leg amputated after a badly neglected injury left the tissue too damaged to repair his leg. No further surgeries or complications from this leg amputation are expected and Kenny is an active and healthy young guy who will grow to be a good sized large breed dog! Kenny is seeking a home with a 6 foot fence because despite being a front leg amputee this boy has some serious "ups," when he is excited outside he can jump high enough to almost clear a shorter fence.  Kenny's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neueter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free 4-week training class at Cedar Run #2. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor only pets, and that adopters have a history of having kept their pets altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you are interested in meeting Kenny, please fill out an adoption application on our website, adopthope.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 11:31 am

Meet Zeus! Located in the Des Moines Area **GSDRI is not involved with this dog at all, other than a courtesy listing. Please contact Lori** We are needing to rehome our male GSD. He is almost 4 yrs old; I rescued him from a farmer wanting him as an indoor dog only. He is obedience trained by the best, Holly Leas, All Breed Dog Obedience Training-Neal D Leas in Des Moines Iowa. He understands German and English commands. He has become a bit mouthy around children under 10, so I would recommend a home with older children. He has not been around cats, but he does have a high prey drive so I would not recommend him around cats or smaller pets. He loves the outdoors, snow and water, and most definitely walks. He sleeps in his kennel, although it is not locked, he still prefers it. He is a Velcro dog, and needs an alpha owner, as Zeus tries to be the alpha. Zeus is up to date on vaccinations, and he has been neutered I believe he would do good with another dog; he currently lives with a female dog. He has been around other dogs and kenneled with both male and female dogs. Please reach out if you would like to meet Zeus. To find the best fit his trainer and owner will meet up with you. **Please contact Lori @ #(515) 443-3031 or email: ljanmyers@gmail.com**

Story
Meet Togo! *fostered in Cedar Rapids* Togo came to us from Wichita Animal Shelter as a stray and was sadly placed on the euthanasia list a few years ago. We were able to pull him to safety, and he was adopted by a family who invested time and training into him. Unfortunately the family had to return him due to a move so he is back with us. Togo is a German Shepherd/Husky mix, possibly with a bit of Malamute. From the Shepherd side, he gets his loyalty and intelligence. The Husky in him brings the personality — a little dramatic and very expressive. His Malamute traits show in his calm, sometimes aloof, and strong-willed nature. Togo already knows sit and down and has been working hard on polite leash walking and keeping all four paws on the ground instead of jumping. He is also potty trained and kennel trained, giving him a great foundation for an easy transition into his forever home. Togo is a big boy who doesn’t always realize his size, so he could accidentally knock someone over. Because of this, a home without small children would be best. He is extremely friendly and thrives around other dogs. Togo currently lives at a doggy daycare/boarding facility and absolutely loves to play, making him a great candidate for a home with other canine companions. He would love to continue going to doggie daycare to help burn off energy and keep him busy. While he can clear a 6-foot fence, he hasn’t attempted to at daycare. In his forever home, he will need supervision outside, and having another dog friend could help keep him happy and engaged in the yard. Things to know about Togo: • He can jump — and clear a 6-foot fence — if left unattended • He does best with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation • He wants to be part of a family and included in daily life (and yes, spoiled a little!) Togo is full of life, love, and personality. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, devoted companion and are ready to keep up with this smart, active boy, Togo might just be your perfect match.
