At 2.5 years old, this extra-large sweetheart came into rescue after a serious injury left one of his front legs beyond saving and his hips in need of surgical intervention as well. But don’t let the missing leg fool you—Homer has adapted like a champ and gets around just fine, with that same big heart and loyal nature pit bulls are known for. Homer is a laid-back lovebug who enjoys hanging out with his people, sunbathing in the yard, and soaking up gentle affection. He’s friendly with other dogs, especially those who can provide a calm vibe for him to match - no rough-and-tumble play styles for this guy, just chill companionship and good company. He’d do best with a respectful, easygoing dog friend or as your one-and-only snuggle buddy. He's great with older kids (ages 5+) who can understand his physical boundaries and help him navigate the world with care. But cats? Not Homer's jam, so a feline-free home is a must. Despite everything he’s been through, Homer has held onto his soft, sweet soul. All he’s missing now is a forever family to love him for the incredible dog he is—three legs and all. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with the soul of a survivor and a whole lot of love to give, Homer might just be your hero. Homer’s adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccines and preventatives plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha.
