Story
Anabelle, 1 years old, spayed female, Pitbull mix, 33 pounds. She is in a foster home in BURIEN, WA. Anabelle was rescued from a shelter in Texas and transported to WA. Her adoption donation reflects the transport cost in addition to offsetting medical. Just before her life was about to end in an overcrowded shelter, Anabelle was rescued and given the opportunity to discover what it means to be safe, cared for, and cherished. She has embraced that second chance with an open heart, and now she's searching for the family that will love her forever. Anabelle is a playful, affectionate girl with a wonderful mix of curiosity and sweetness. She may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but it doesn't take long before her personality shines—especially if there's a toy involved! Plush toys, squeaky toys, treats...they're all favorites. Once she trusts you, she'll happily lean in for pets, rest her head in your lap, and soak up every bit of affection you're willing to give. She enjoys spending time with other dogs and has done especially well with larger canine companions, though she's also been friendly with smaller dogs. Anabelle has a playful, moderate energy level and loves running around the yard, but she also knows how to settle down after a good play session. She's respectful of other dogs' boundaries and recognizes when it's time to stop playing. Anabelle is fully house-trained and has done wonderfully with crate training. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and comfortably relaxes there for several hours during the day while her foster family is away. She rides calmly in the car, has met both men and women without any concerns, and is beginning to learn leash walking. Like any dog adjusting to a new home, she'll benefit from continued positive reinforcement and patience as she builds confidence. Because she's an enthusiastic, playful girl who doesn't always realize her own strength, we think she'd do best in a home with older children or adults. She would thrive with an active family that enjoys walks, playtime, and including their dog in everyday life. While she'd enjoy having another friendly dog around, she doesn't require a canine companion to be happy. What makes Anabelle so special isn't just her playful spirit—it's her resilience. She came so close to never getting the chance to experience love, yet she greets each day with hope, joy, and an eagerness to connect with the people around her. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will make you smile with her playful antics, curl up beside you after a day of adventures, and remind you every day what second chances can mean, Anabelle is ready to meet you. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? She is in a foster home in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS and can transport once an adopter is matched. Meet Trix – The Shy Girl with the Sweetest, Smartest Soul Trix and her brother were surrendered to a shelter in Houston, and it was clear from the start that she was the more shut down of the two. While her brother has already found his forever family, we knew Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence before beginning her own journey home. Trix was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans. That said, she has never shown any reactivity — no growling, barking, lunging, nipping, or biting. When she’s unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide (a closet, under a deck, a quiet corner). She is gentle — just scared. She is also very quiet and incredibly observant. Trix watches everything going on around her and picks things up quickly. She is VERY smart. Doggy door? She had that figured out within just a couple of days. She may be shy, but she is always learning. After a few days in a new environment, you can see her begin to soften. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she grows more comfortable being near her people. Over time, she’ll surprise you — playing with toys when she thinks no one is watching, running and sunbathing with other dogs, and eventually choosing to curl up on the couch or sleep in bed with her humans. Trix does well with other dogs after proper acclimation, and we strongly believe she would thrive with a confident canine companion to follow and learn from. While not an absolute requirement, adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building. She: Is housebroken Loves her crate Is learning to walk on a leash Has been around kids (shy at first) Is very quiet Has unknown history with cats Appears to be a low-rider mix who will likely be medium-sized when full grown Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not — both because she’s still a puppy and because building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a “ready-made” confident dog. She is a diamond in the rough who will require patience, compassion, and commitment. But for the family willing to invest in her, the reward will be extraordinary. Watching Trix discover that the world isn’t so scary — that she is safe and loved — is something truly special. She deserves a family of her own. One that will help her find her courage and never give up on her. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
