Story
Welcome Rocky to CCPAL Rescue. He is a Rottweiler or Shepherd/Bulldog is our best guess on breed. He has a beautiful grey coat that is shorter and he is athletic and friendly. He weighs about 50 pounds and is a good weight and is about 1.5 years old. He has new adult teeth that are still nice and clean. He would be perfect for a runner, walker, jogger, hiker or athletic and outdoorsy family. He loves all people so you won’t have any trouble with him meeting new people. He would love to join a family on all their adventures. He is good in his kennel and goes potty in his outdoor space. He hasn’t been reactive when we had him on leash. He is a head turner for sure. He is getting his vaccinations and will be neutered and ready for his forever home in a couple of weeks. He is outgoing and would be fine with a family that has children. We would like children to be 8 or older. Rocky is not a big shedding dog. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. PLEASE CONTACT KENNEL STAFF TO SET UP A MEET AND GREET*- Glo`s Adoption Fee has been generously sponsored by NBT Bank, Pittsfield!Glo has been living it up in her foster home. She adores people and learning. Her foster mom reports that her favorite part of going for walks is greeting all of her fans and handing out kisses. Glo has never met a stranger and assumes all humans (even the little ones) are AWESOME! She is happy to greet everyone (mostly) politely and soak in all of the praise and pets. Her foster mom has worked with her to teach her all about polite greetings and how to be gentle around children. Because she lives her life with full enthusiasm, we don`t think she would do well living with smaller children, but would probably enjoy them as visitors. Especially if they let her clean their faces. With her favorite people, Glo can get overexcited. Her foster mom has been working hard to teach her to calm down when she gets worked up. Her polite greetings have improved tremendously! With some good boundaries and lots of positive training, Glo has learned the value of just hanging out with her people. She has learned how to snuggle and will do so at every opportunity, often falling asleep that way. Glo is house-trained and crate-trained and will sleep in her crate overnight (or the bed, if you let her) and will relax in her crate while her people are out of the house. Glo is a high-energy, people-focused dog. Her best home would be with someone who likes to do things with her. She is very smart and loves to learn new things. She adores neighborhood walks and hiking.  Recently, she visited the lake and splashed in the water. She mostly wants to be with her people doing things together. She does require a lot of stimulation to be happy, so she`s not a great dog for someone who works long hours. When her needs are met, she`s an excellent companion. Glo would do best as the only pet in a home. She has some prey drive that is well controlled on walks, but it still appears in the yard and around the house. She loves to find and chase the squirrels and chipmunks. She will go over a four-foot barrier when chasing something, so even with a fenced-in yard, you will need to watch her closely before you can trust that she will respect the fence. Her reactivity around other dogs has improved tremendously in her foster home. She can walk in town past other dogs or sit politely while they pass. When she is already overexcited, or if the other dogs bark or lunge at her, it gets much harder for her. She continues to improve every day. Glo has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia. She is not currently a candidate for surgery, but that may change as she ages. She is well managed with careful exercise and supplements recommended by the vet. She needs long walks and should limit any high-impact exercise. We are happy to share educational material and her veterinary records with any potential adopters so they know what`s going on and what to expect going forward.TLDR: If you are looking for an amazing dog friend that loves walks and being with her people, Glo might be right for you. She should be the only pet and has some medical concerns. Please reach out for an application if you are interested. - Very sweet girl, loves meeting everyone and anyone- Extremely active! Would make a great adventure buddy and is very cuddly once her exercise needs have been met- Still working on house training and will need continued work with this in her new home - Super food motivated and very willing to learn- No cats or small animals, has a prey drive - Likes to `sing the song of her people` (can be a bit vocal) so a home setting with no shared walls would be best - Could potentially live with another male dog her size or larger, no females please - Could live in a home with kids 8+- Has some anxiety and is currently on medication which is helping her- Would benefit from crate training. She`s not a fan so far, but with an owner who works consistently with her, she could be successful long-termDogs: Could have potential playdates with goofy male dogs, pending a successful meet and greet, her size or bigger.
