Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ZYM was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. He along with 3 other pitties that he was saved were extremely emaciated with pressure sores that have been treated for and are all doing amazing having gained weight and healed. Zym is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 36 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. Since Zym has been here (just over a month at the time of this update) he has done amazing, he has gained weight (too much and is now on a diet lol). He and Smellerbee are pretty bonded and snuggle up together in a big puppy pile, so we would love to adopt them together but will adopt individually if a family only wants one. He is playful, affectionate, goofy, happy, full of love, kisses and cuddles. From what he must have endured to now it is a complete change, he is so much fun. He deserves an extra special family who can give him the life he deserves and help him forget the abuse, neglect and starvation he has suffered. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page    to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Zym is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $250. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ROSCA was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. She along with 3 other pitties that we saved were extremely emaciated with pressure sores that were treated and have all healed. They have all also been eating great and have actually put on a bit "too" much weight, so will need to go on a diet for the first few weeks, to be sure to lose those extra pounds and to be at a healthy weight. ROSCA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2021 and in April 2024 weighed of 32 pounds, but as mentioned has gained weight. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. This sweet girl has done a lot of healing since being here and is so loving and gentle. We thought we was lucky to have found her forever family, but sadly after just being there for less than 12 hours, the family felt she was too big and that there chihuahua was not being accepting of her. She has been there for 2 weeks, and will finally be coming back to the rescue on Sunday 26th May and this is what the family said about her during her 2 weeks with them:   Just to let you know about Rosca - she is house trained.  She only goes pee and poop outside. If she absolutely has to go and I am not there to let her out, she pee's by the door where I let her out as if she was waiting there to go outside but couldn't wait.  This only happened 2 times as she had to go very early in the morning.   She can bark.  She only barked 2 times, once when she heard my neighbor talking through the woods and another time she heard a landscape guy come here for an estimate.  So, it's nice because you don't have to deal with a dog that barks at everything, she is on the quiet side which is very nice. She is good on the leash, she walks nicely and does not pull. She is content and easy to care for.  She loves to play ball, I throw it and she retrieves it and brings the ball back to me to throw again. She is lovable and bonds quickly.  She is sweet and smart, you can see her thinking. She is fun and you can see her smile and get happy. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel  and   photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
Hey friend! My name is Milo. I'm a 3 year old male pitty looking for a new home. I am a super happy boy, as you can see from my picture. I love to meet new people and play with toys in the yard with my APF friends. I'm a very energetic boy and would do best with an active family who can play with me and take me on long walks. I'd make a great adventure buddy if you like hiking! I'm working on my basic manners here like "wait" and "focus". I would love to work on them even more when I go home. Will you teach me?! If you would like to learn more about me, you can give APF a call at 518-374-3944 or come in Tuesday through Saturdays between 12 and 3:30 to meet me!

Story
Hi! My name is Gretchen! I am a super sweet 7 year old Pittie mix looking for my furever home. I love car rides and going for walks. I am a snuggle bug and love to cuddle with my hooman friends. I'm a smart girl and love to show you my tricks for treats! I know how to sit and shake. I could probably learn some new tricks too, cause who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks! I have lived with a dog friend before and would be open to seeing how I get along with another. I do require a home without cats. I'd love to meet you! If you are interested in me you can call my friends at the Animal Protective Foundation at 518-374-3944 for more information, or stop in to see me! Hope to see you soon!
