Story
Meet Molly, a one-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix weighing 50 pounds.Molly is a gentle sweetheart looking for a family ready to show her just how wonderful life can be. She came to us as a stray alongside Mia, and when she first arrived, so much of the world was still brand new and a little overwhelming for her.At first, Molly was unsure about new places, new experiences, and even simple everyday things. With time, patience, and care, she has made incredible progress and her true personality is starting to shine. She is a sweet, soft-natured girl who is learning that the world can be a safe and happy place.Molly has blossomed into a wonderful companion. She now enjoys going for walks and has discovered that exploring the world with her people can be a lot of fun! She does well in a crate, uses a dog door like a pro, and did great with potty training in a home environment. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and plays well with her canine friends.Molly is a food-loving girl who gets very excited about mealtime! She enjoys her meals so much that she may try to help herself to another dog`s food if given the opportunity, so her future family will want to keep an eye on unattended bowls. While Molly may still need some reassurance as she continues building confidence, she has shown how much she is capable of learning and growing. She has an eager-to-please personality and responds beautifully to patience, gentle guidance, and positive experiences.Molly is a kind, loving girl who has already come so far. She’s ready for a family who will continue cheering her on and showing her that she is finally safe, loved, and home. This pet is available for adoption on 5/21/2026 2:59 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Koia, a one-year-old Pit/Bully mix weighing 60 pounds.Koia is a big-hearted girl with a sensitive soul who is just beginning to discover what a safe and loving world can look like. She came to animal control after being surrendered from a severely neglectful situation where she had gone seven days without food. Tragically, there were also deceased dogs on the property, and it’s clear Koia has had very little positive exposure to the world around her. Because of this, everything is still new and sometimes overwhelming for her—but she is trying.Despite her past, Koia is a strong, affectionate “tank” of a dog with a sweet and goofy personality starting to shine through. When she gets excited, she bursts into joyful zoomies, and she absolutely loves treats, which makes her highly motivated for training and building trust. She’s not yet comfortable on a leash and can be a strong puller, so she’ll need a patient adopter willing to teach her at her pace with gentle, consistent guidance.Once she feels safe, Koia reveals a softer side—she enjoys affection and has a surprising love for being close to her people, even leaning into lap time when she feels secure.Koia needs a calm, understanding home that will help her continue learning that the world isn’t so scary. In return, she offers resilience, loyalty, and the beginnings of a truly special bond with someone willing to give her the time she’s always deserved. This pet is available for adoption on 6.26.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
