Story
Looks like: German Shepherd Female, 9 years old (estimated), 77 pounds Here's a profile in courage: sweet and affectionate Rosa. She came to us after having walked many a rough road with weak hind legs, a painful mouth, and abdominal masses. Two operations later, she's feeling much better and healing beautifully. But has any of the strife she's faced dampened her spirit? Not all all! She's a snuggle bug through and through. Rosa loves to cuddle up and be close to her people; if you stop petting she might remind you to resume by giving you a gentle tap with her paw. Having been malnourished, she appreciates every meal and sometimes forgets that she doesn't need to counter surf anymore. Good on a leash, great in a car, house-broken, and non-reactive around other dogs, Rosa has good manners, but might benefit from a bit more training. Rosa has done well around calm children, but we think she'd do best in a household with no other pets and lots of human hands who'd be happy to reciprocate her love. She prefers to be with her people most of the time. This senior girl came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being found as a stray.

Story
Introducing Fraser! This playful pup came to us from Santa Cruz County Animal Services after he was hit by a car, leading to a fractured leg. Now in recovery, Fraser is looking for his furever home! Despite his injury, Fraser is your typical husky pup. His fosters say he loves to howl when greeting guests and new friends! He loves stuffed toys and is a very food-motivated pup, once recovered he will be a very active boy and is looking for a family who can keep up with him and allow him to take on adventures! Since he is still recovering, it is important to note he will not be able to rough-house with any other dogs in the home or perform extraneous activities until fully recovered. Fraser does great with other dogs but can become too excited with cats, so he will need to be introduced to any cats in the home gradually overtime. Due to his breed and age, we are seeking an experienced owner who has previously owned large breed dogs like huskies and German shepherds as he can be your typical stubborn husky. He would do best in a home with adult adopters or with families that have children over the age of 10 at this time. Fraser will require pre-registration to general puppy classes (positive reinforcement only) prior to adoption to ensure he is continuing his positive socialization and training. Fraser is currently in foster care and meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online dog application.

Story
Looks like: German Shepherd Mix Male, 7 years old (estimated), 84 pounds Ripley is ready to play ball! This handsome senior boy still has lots of energy and his job is "ball." He's a goof who loves to flop on the grass in silly positions to get attention and belly rubs. Ripley is a very friendly boy who particularly loves small children and is very gentle when encountering them. At home, he'll stick by your side to keep you company, alternating between play sessions and mellow time. He would do well in an active home where he could get regular movement/play time...and he also appreciates a good snuggle! This gorgeous guy hasn't been socialized for much of his life, so he can be a bit overly excited when seeing new dog friends and can't wait to meet them. He's working on some training regarding this and will need to continue working on it in his next home. We find training to be such a fun way to bond and get to know your new pup! Ripley was found as a stray and taken to Hitchcock Road Animal Services.
