If you`re looking for a dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Ricotta might be your girl. This sweet girl absolutely loves her people and would happily spend all day snuggling with you. If you`re cooking, she`s in the kitchen. If you`re relaxing on the couch, she`s right underneath you. If you`re sleeping, she wants to be curled up beside you. Basically, wherever you are, Ricotta wants to be!She has the sweetest way of asking for affection, too. Stop petting her and she`ll turn her head, give you those big `sad eyes,` and gently nudge your hand to let you know you`re not finished yet. And if you ask Ricotta for a hug, she`ll give you one! She loves being close to her people and isn`t shy about showing it.Ricotta is also wonderfully polite in the house. She doesn`t jump on furniture and seems to know that couches and beds are off-limits. She loves going for walks and gets incredibly excited when she hears it`s time to go outside. She is still working on her manners around other dogs, but she has already made tremendous progress and continues to learn.Ricotta is not comfortable around other pets, so she would need to be the only furry friend in your home. Ricotta is also being treated for heartworm, which are parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Ricotta will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk. The heartworm injections for treatment are covered by HSHV, but there may be additional costs associated with clinical care.Ricotta is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes.
