Story
Hey my name is Lexi! I am a good dog looking for an active owner willing to offer proper training, socialization, and exercise. I've been told that I'm the life of the party! Sometimes my love for good times can overwhelm others so I'd like to meet any potential dog siblings so I can make sure our vibes match. My energy may not be suitable for young children. I have A LOT of energy, and may be a bit too much for some families! However, a lot of energy also means a lot of LOVE! With time, training, and patience- I will try my hardest to be a great dog for you and your family!

Story
Hi my name is Penny Lane! I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get more comfortable I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter.

Story
Pepita is a beautiful good girl who can sit, stay, lay, and give you her paw. When we got her and her sister we were naive to think they'd stay on the smaller side and therefore would have enough space in our smaller apartment (only 1 of their parents is half German Shepherd). But as they've gotten older and bigger, they've gotten extremely physically active and at times that can be very overwhelming. I want Pepita to have someone who can match her active lifestyle and who can also be patient with her as she becomes house trained. She is kennel trained and mostly potty trained with the occasional accident. She loves chewing on pretty much anything but particularly toys and sticks. Pepita is also part sea otter and LOVES swimming (with her double coat, it no doubt helps cool her off). I would love to stay in touch with her new owner, and would really appreciate seeing her throughout the years. Ideally her and her sister should have play dates at the dog park :).

Story
This is a courtesy post for HSHV. This is a great dog for the right person! Hi, everyone, my name is Clover. I tend to become overwhelmed easily, and the shelter environment is, well, rather overwhelming. So I'm looking to be rescued ASAP by a patient and understanding human; someone who's prepared (with a pocketful of snacks, ideally) to help me keep my cool when I'm venturing outside my comfort zone. I'm a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats wouldn't be a good fit for my exuberant personality. If you've got the skills to read both my subtle and not so subtle body language, I'd love for you to be my guiding light. Being a 1-year-old German shepherd, it goes without saying that I have an overabundance of energy as well as a brilliant mind. If you're a human with an active lifestyle, I want in on it. I'm talking hikes, fetch, puzzles. I'd even be open to some agility training once I get to know you a little better. Please teach me to channel my energy away from fear and towards fun! Since I'm a sensitive girl, I'd do best in a single family home without dogs and adults only. Remember, adoption is not just about finding a pet; it's about changing a life. Are you craving a new chapter? Me too! Take a chance on this pup, and you'll be rewarded with a transformation beyond your wildest dreams.

Story
Charlie is a 2-year-old German Shepherd. He is housebroken, very social with humans and likes to play and cuddle, he is also a great guarding dog. Unfortunately, due to change in lifestyle, I am unable to give him the same attention as before. Charlie is used to go on 20 mins walks twice a day, and a 15 mins playtime inside the house, the rest of the day he is either napping, playing with his toys, or protecting the house from squirls. I am looking for someone who is a previous dog owner, familiar with the breed, have enough time and energy for said activities. Additional information will be available when contacted, and please be ready to answer few questions about your lifestyle. Charlie is well loved in his current home and I am only willing to give him up to the right person.

Story
Hi, I'm Rochelle! I'm a sweet and loving girl who always wants to be by your side. I'm a mild mannered young lady who is a bit unsure about the big world around me. I might be nervous at first, but after some TLC, playtime, and love, I will really start to blossom! I feel most comfortable when I have a dog buddy so if your dog loves to play, I am ready to meet them! I know that I need to become more confident in new situations so I am looking for a home that is more calm than crazy! Do you think that you can give me the special home that I'm looking for?If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers all of the medical care I have received.*Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. The adoption process may require multiple visits to the shelter before a dog can go home with you. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Sir Butterball has had a tough start to life. He was pulled from his litter at just three weeks and dropped off at the shelter because he has a birth defect, a hind leg deformity. We took him in, bottle fed him and nursed him through his babyhood. After a trip to the orthopedic veterinarian and a rehabilitation veterinarian, it was clear that there was nothing that could surgically be done for Sir Butterball. However, all veterinarians have agreed that he has no pain, he's a mobile and happy guy and there's no reason he can't have a long satisfying life. So we are on the quest for the perfect home for this little guy. A home that has experience with special needs dogs (he'll be using a wheelchair when out on the street, and may permanently need to wear a diaper!), and has the patience for a German Shepherd puppy (did we mention that he's 100% purebred German Shepherd?). Sir Butterball has been in foster care with a family that includes three dogs, two cats, 2 permanent kid residents, and lots of kids coming and going. He's a playful, loving fluffy ball of energy that is sure to bring joy to any family!
