Story
Tracker is an observant, thoughtful little guy with a quiet confidence. Like his siblings, he was found beneath a porch on the Red Lake Reservation just before dangerously cold weather set in. Thanks to quick action and a village of helpers, Tracker was brought to safety and given a second chance. In foster care, Tracker is thriving—watching, learning, and bonding with his siblings and caregivers. He’s the kind of puppy who will grow into a devoted companion. ✨ Tracker will be available for adoption starting January 16th, when he turns 8 weeks old. ✨ Tracker's adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Story
Mama Everest is a stunning husky/shepherd mix with a heart as big as her name. She comes to us from the Red Lake Reservation, where she did everything she could to keep her babies safe in the harsh Minnesota cold. Everest gave birth under a porch, sheltering her puppies as best she could. A kind community member brought the puppies inside to keep them warm, while Everest stayed close by—watching, waiting, and protecting from outside, even though she wasn’t comfortable coming indoors herself. Her devotion never wavered. She has proven to be an incredible mama. Her puppies are healthy, happy, and chunky thanks to her constant care. Everest has done her job beautifully—and now, once her babies are fully weaned, she deserves the chance to be someone’s baby too. Mama Everest is gentle, resilient, and deeply loyal. She’s learning that she’s safe now and that humans can be trusted to take care of her as well. Medical transparency is important to us: Mama Everest is heartworm positive and Lyme positive. She will need to complete heartworm treatment and be spayed before she is officially available for adoption. During this time, she is eligible for a foster-to-adopt home, where she can continue healing, decompressing, and learning what life in a loving home looks like. If you’re patient, compassionate, and ready to open your heart to a dog who has given so much of herself already, Mama Everest may be the perfect fit. Her next chapter should be one of rest, love, and forever. 💙 Her adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations appropriate at the time of adoption, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Story
Skip the puppy phase and head straight into the very best years — the cuddly, calm, already-trained, knows-the-routine years. 💛 Meet Luna, the most beautiful German Shepherd you’ll ever meet. She is beauty. She is grace. She’ll give a quick little alarm bark to greet you… then calmly go back to doing her thing like the confident queen she is. Luna is a total dream in the home. She’s house trained, loves her crate, and does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and especially kids. She has a gentle, affectionate nature and thrives on being close to her people, soaking up cuddles and giving all the love right back. Her ideal home includes kids to adore and humans ready to soak up her loyalty and affection. Luna is spayed, enjoys car rides, and is refreshingly low maintenance — aside from her signature hair glitter, which she spreads like confetti wherever she goes. If you’re ready for the easy, sweet, already-amazing stage of life… Luna is ready to meet you. Her adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations appropriate at the time of adoption, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
