Story
Whiskey is Sponsored by Shirlee SittonMeet Whiskey Whiskey is a kind-natured adult male German Shepherd with soulful eyes and the gentlest heart. He came from a heartbreaking situation, but despite everything he’s been through, Whiskey has chosen kindness. All he really wants now are a few tasty treats, some loving pets, and a yard to run off his energy in.This cuddle tank is a gentle giant with an easygoing nature inside the home. Indoors, Whiskey is calm and affectionate, happiest when he can lean against his people or stay close by, quietly soaking up love. Outside, however, is where his size and strength really shine. He is a big, powerful boy who can pull on leash and needs continued training to polish his manners. While he is very sweet, he will require structure, consistency, and an adopter committed to working with him so he can be his very best self.Due to his strength and energy level, Whiskey is looking for a home with prior German Shepherd experience. He needs confident, dog-savvy adopters who understand the breed’s drive, intelligence, and training needs. His future family should also be physically capable of safely handling a strong, energetic dog — active, fit adults who won’t find themselves being dragged across the lawn in front of the neighbors.Like any true GSD, Whiskey will thrive with daily exercise, clear expectations, and ongoing guidance. In the right hands, his loyalty and devotion will be unmatched.Whiskey deserves a home where he’ll never be overlooked again — a place where patience, compassion, and consistency will help him continue to grow. In return, he offers unwavering loyalty, big Shepherd snuggles, and the kind of love that only a second-chance dog can give.If you’re an experienced Shepherd lover ready for a sweet, strong, and devoted companion, Whiskey is ready to meet you.Due to additional adoption requirements for this special boy, we require a pre-application to be submitted and approved prior to scheduling a meet-and-greet. We are unable to accommodate walk-ins, as we want to ensure the best match while minimizing unnecessary stress for him.If you are interested in meeting Whiskey, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Story
Meet Yar! Yar is a confident little explorer who is always ready to investigate new toys, new smells, and new friends. He’s playful, silly, and full of puppy enthusiasm. Yar loves to romp around with his siblings before settling in for a cozy nap. With his fun personality and adventurous spirit, Yar would do great in a home ready for all the joy (and laughter) that comes with raising a puppy. Rescued from a high-capacity shelter at just 6 weeks old, this adorable group of puppies has been busy growing, learning, and playing in their foster home. Now 8 weeks old, they’re ready to stomp their way into loving forever homes! These pups are believed to be Shepherd mixes and are expected to grow to around 65 pounds when fully grown. Shepherd-type dogs are known for being intelligent, loyal, athletic, and deeply devoted to their families. They thrive with active households that enjoy walks, adventures, and plenty of playtime. In their foster home, the Dinosaur pups have been socialized with children, dogs, and other household pets, giving them a great start to becoming well-rounded companions. Like all puppies, they are still learning the basics of potty training, crate training, and good puppy manners. Each one has their own personality — but all share the same sweet, playful, and curious spirit.

Story
Don’t let her name fool you—Storm is more of a gentle breeze than a whirlwind. This beautiful girl has the striking look of a petite Siberian Husky, possibly mixed with Klee Kai, wrapped up in a smaller, more manageable package.Storm can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a little time and patience, and you’ll see her true personality shine. Once she knows she’s safe, she becomes incredibly affectionate and loves to stay close to her person. Her soft, sweet kisses are her favorite way of showing just how much she trusts and adores you. She’s also a smart cookie! Storm is food-motivated and already knows how to sit, which makes her a great candidate for continued training. With positive reinforcement and consistency, she’s sure to keep learning and impressing. While her smaller size makes her more adaptable than a typical husky, Storm still has that classic husky energy. She’ll need regular daily exercise, mental stimulation, and an active home to help her thrive. Because of this, she may not be the best fit for apartment living.Storm would do wonderfully with a family ready to give her the time, structure, and love she deserves. In return, she’ll be a loyal, loving companion who will stick by your side through calm days and life’s little storms alike.Ready to meet your new best friend? Storm is waitingIf you are interested in meeting Storm, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm.
