Story
PJ is currently in a foster home while she waits for her forever home. Please email PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV to learn more about her or schedule a meet-and-greet.Hi, I’m Harvey — but my friends call me PJ Harvey!I’m a 1-year-old Shepherd mix with a lot of love and personality to share. I can be a little kennel shy at first, but once I’m out and comfortable, I’m extremely friendly, affectionate, and fun to be around.I’m currently living in a foster home while I wait for my forever family, and I’ve been doing really well there. I can be fearful with strangers initially, but once I warm up, I’m very loving and bond closely with my people.I was previously adopted, but returned after I accidentally scratched a young child during a play session. Because of this, PRAS would love to find me a home that understands my playful energy and can continue helping me build confidence.Think you might be the right fit for me? Story
Meet SavannahSavannah is a beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd mix with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. She enjoys just about everything a dog could want—running outside, chasing tennis balls, playing with toys, and, of course, enjoying treats of any kind! While Savannah may be a little reserved when meeting new people, she is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loyal once she gets to know you. She is naturally protective of her family and can be anxious when visitors first arrive, so she does best with slow introductions and patient guidance.Savannah gets along well with other animals and is wonderful with children. She is both gentle and protective with the kids she loves and is comfortable around both men and women. She knows some basic commands and enjoys spending time with her people.Savannah can experience anxiety when left alone, but she is crate-trained for when her family is away or at bedtime. She was previously not allowed on furniture and is accustomed to having her own space.Like many shepherd mixes, Savannah has seasonal allergies during the spring and summer months, which primarily affect her ears and feet. Her future family should be prepared to help manage these allergies as needed.Savannah also experiences motion sickness during car rides, so shorter trips and appropriate management may help keep her comfortable. At intake, Savannah was noted to have a mild Grade 1/6 heart murmur. While heart murmurs do not always indicate significant heart disease, they can increase the risk of complications under anesthesia and may require monitoring throughout her life.Savannah is looking for a patient, loving home that will give her the security she needs and the playtime she loves. In return, she`ll reward her family with loyalty, affection, and endless companionship.

Story
Meet Cheyanne, aka Annie! Cheyanne, affectionately known as Annie, is a beautiful 2-year-old Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her adorable ears! Originally arriving at the shelter as a stray, Annie was adopted into a home but has recently found herself back at the shelter and is once again searching for a forever family.Annie is the total package—smart, curious, and delightfully clumsy. She loves exploring the world around her, learning new things, and being part of whatever her people are doing. Her goofy moments and inquisitive nature make her a joy to be around. This lovely girl already has a fantastic foundation of training. She`s housebroken, knows sit, down, and leave it, walks politely on a leash without pulling, and has been trained not to jump on people. Annie is also a respectful housemate who stays calm when left alone and isn`t destructive around the home.Annie has successfully lived with another female dog in the past. While they weren`t inseparable friends, they shared their home peacefully. She has also been described as friendly with children and enjoys spending time with her people.Annie was returned after an incident occurred while she was out on a fishing pier with another dog, during which a passerby was bitten. Because multiple dogs were involved, it was never confirmed which dog was responsible. Since returning to the shelter, Annie has continued to show herself to be a friendly, social dog who enjoys human companionship and is eager to make new friends.Like any adopted dog, Annie will benefit from a family committed to helping her succeed through continued training, structure, and positive experiences. In return, you`ll gain a loyal companion who is affectionate, intelligent, and always ready to brighten your day with her charming personality. If you`re looking for a dog with a great mix of manners, brains, and lovable goofiness, Annie may be the perfect match for you. Come meet her and see if she`s the missing piece of your family!
