Kane is a full breed German shepherd. He is about 5 years old. Ball enthusiast, silly, big cuddle baby. His bark is louder and scarier than his “bite”. Story
Meet Montana, a 3-year-old Shepherd mix who is discovering how fun it is to spend a day out with his person. Montana recently enjoyed a full outing that included a park adventure, a trip through Bass Pro Shops, and even a Chick-fil-A stop, and he handled it all like a gentleman.Montana is house-trained and has excellent potty manners. He reliably waits until he is outside to potty, even in busy environments where other dogs have marked indoors. During car rides he settles nicely in the back seat, calmly watching the world go by, and remains relaxed throughout the trip.He can become excited and may jump up, so may do best with a family prepared to help him continue learning polite greetings. Some of his earlier life was spent with little structure, so he is still learning household manners, but he responds well to calm guidance, treats, and consistency and is already beginning to settle more quickly when redirected.Montana is gentle when taking treats, comfortable around loud city noises such as trucks and sirens, and shows polite curiosity rather than reactivity when he sees wildlife like squirrels. He is a little shy when meeting new people at first, yet warms up and happily accepts gentle pets once he feels comfortable. He rides quietly in the car, does not try to climb into the front seat, and enjoys simply observing everything around him.At the park, Montana showed particular interest in the water and may become a wonderful companion for beach days or lakeside walks as he gains confidence. While he is still figuring out toys and chews, what he truly enjoys most is being near his person and sharing new experiences together.Montana would thrive with a patient family willing to continue his training, provide structure, and help him keep building confidence. In return, he offers calm companionship, gentle manners, and a loyal heart ready to bond with his forever home.

Hershey is in a FOSTER home while he waits for his FOREVER home. If you’re interested in learning more about Hershey, please contact PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV to inquire about him.Looking to add the cutest Hershey-colored baby to your family? Well look no further — our sweet foster pup Hershey (yes, like the candy kisses!) is ready to find his fur-ever home.Hershey is doing wonderfully with potty training. As long as he’s taken out about every two hours, he keeps his kennel clean with no accidents. He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and consistency. He’s been around children ranging from 1 to 13 years old and has done great with them — just remember, he is still a puppy, so continued guidance and supervision will be important as he grows.Hershey is also comfortable around large dogs. He’s currently living with an 8-month-old Pit mix (75–80 pounds) and a 7-month-old Great Dane mix (84 pounds) and isn’t intimidated by their size at all. He enjoys canine companionship and would likely do well with a playful dog sibling. It’s believed that Hershey may be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, so he will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog. He already shows signs of being active and energetic, even as a young pup, so he would thrive with a family who enjoys walks, hikes, jogging, running, or other adventures.Beyond his playful side, Hershey is a total cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people and aims to please. He catches on to commands quickly and is incredibly smart — the kind of puppy who truly wants to learn and make you proud.

Story
Meet Shadow, a 6-year-old German Shepherd–Pit Bull mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for relaxing with his family. Despite his strong and handsome appearance, Shadow is truly a couch potato at heart. He’s happiest when he’s curled up beside his people, soaking up cuddles and enjoying a cozy moment together. This sweet boy loves being close to his favorite humans and thrives on the comfort of their company. While Shadow enjoys plenty of downtime, he also has a playful side that shines through. His favorite toys are balls, and he’s always excited for a fun game of fetch. Whether it’s tossing a ball around in the yard or enjoying some playtime with his people, Shadow loves a good game. He’s friendly with both people and other dogs, though he can be a little wary when meeting new canine friends at first. Because of this, slow and thoughtful introductions are recommended to help him feel comfortable.Shadow is deeply loyal and enjoys keeping a watchful eye over the people he loves, happily sticking close by wherever you go. When playtime winds down, you might find him cuddled up with one of his toys, treating it almost like a little snuggle buddy. He also has a mischievous and goofy side that keeps life fun and full of smiles. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys both playful moments and cozy cuddle sessions, Shadow could be the perfect match. With plenty of love, patience, and a comfy spot on the couch, this sweet and silly boy will make a wonderful addition to the family.
