Story
Take a second to sit back & relax, meet Molly Mae! Molly went on an exciting road trip with her foster brother last year in hopes to find her forever family. Although she hasn’t found them just yet, we know they are out there somewhere! On her trip, Molly traveled over 3,600 miles in a car. Woah!! Not only is she totally interesting and ready to share all of her world traveling stories with you, but she’s most of all looking for love. The first thing you will notice about this girl is how intelligent she is. Molly is also nothing short of an impressive performance dog with her sit, down, and touch skills. She also has amazing recall, and has mastered “heel” and “leave it” when she passes by other dogs on her daily walks. She loves being brushed too. One of our volunteers loves her so much, he comes multiple times a week to sit with her and brush her. She sits perfectly for him for 45 minutes straight, never leaving his side even when new doggies walk by. It melted my heart, and it surely will melt yours too. Molly is a big fan of her daily routine, and she hopes you will help her create a new one in her new home. The girl knows what she likes! Molly also loves a good game of fetch— she will bring the ball back and drop it! Calling all shepherd lovers, because this girls personality will need someone familiar with this breed! Is that you? Meet Molly girl here! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yR7D5PYFxhU&feature=youtu.be Molly has so many good qualities to her. She is great in her crate, and best of all she is quiet in there too! She is calm and relaxed when you take her out. When you want her to go back in she just walks right in! She is very food motivated and loves a good treat (don’t we all!). She even let a 4 year old train her! She sat for him, and waited patiently for him to share some of his yummy cheese stick. Molly is not the jumping around ball of energy type, she is respectful of her surroundings and the people in it! Little tiny kids can be a little overwhelming with all of the bouncing and kid friendly chaos, so we believe Molly would do better with kids 7 years and up. Or children that will be able to understand her boundaries. Family coming over to visit with younger kids should not be a problem for her, this is just something she prefers! Mollys interest in treats would make for a super fun training session! Molly is the perfect example of a dog that is just happy to be with you, no matter where you are. Molly really likes to bond with her people. She is so loyal and loving, when her forever family comes to get her I have no doubt it will be the happiest day of her life! She would be happy to stay home and put around the backyard too! Speaking of homes and yards, this girl needs one! Having a structured area for her to play and mosey around in would be her dream. Molly does not need another dog in the home, but if she were to have one she prefers to be with more submissive, medium energy males that will participate in her similar play style. Molly can be a little rowdy with her best friend sometimes, but it’s all fun and games. Molly would be perfectly content being your one and only too! No kitty cats for this queen, they are just way too fun to chase and bark at. Her ideal family would be those that love some good quality time. We could totally see her hanging out at the backyard barbecue hoping you’ll slip her a little something under the table. When this girl falls for you, she falls hard. If only we could all be so lucky to have a best friend like her. Are you ready to add the perfect loyal companion to your life? Apply for her today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/680a6339fe589ad4230a2f7b Questions? We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
If you like your dogs on the big side, with the potential for even bigger? Fluffy on the outside and soft-souled on the inside, River is here for you! River is the kind of dog who makes everyone stop in their tracks, not because he’s loud or chaotic, but because he’s eye-catching, handsome, and oh-so gentle and welcoming for his size. When he was brought to our main rescue office it was all oooohhhs and ahhhhhs, followed by, “Can we approach and touch?”. The team was so excited and proud to say, YES!! He is as loving, soft, and affectionate as he looks! Take a look at his mellowness in motion, then come back to read more: https://youtu.be/bBnetZgN-WE River is estimated to be about a year old, currently weighs 87 lbs, and may be a German Shepherd/Husky mix—maybe even some Anatolian sprinkled in. As with all rescues, age and breed are our best guesses. Sometimes that’s the best part about rescue, finding all the fun breeds your pup has! What we can guarantee is that he is a lot of loving fluff and incredibly affectionate, though never in a pushy way. He leans into you, rests that giant head near your lap, and soaks up love like a pro. You can even hold his paws and let him “dance” with you—standing up, he’ll likely be as tall as you. It’s like slow dancing with a gentle, oversized stuffed animal. Please don’t mistake “big” for “difficult.” River has that magical gentle-giant quality where the look is powerhouse and the personality is marshmallow. He walks well on leash and is very manageable for such a large dog. Being young, he’ll benefit from continued structure, but his calm, observant, unbothered nature makes him an absolute joy. He brings chill vibes all day. Truly the definition of big dog, easy spirit. River currently lives in a loving foster home with multiple dogs out in the country of Texas and does wonderfully! Even his foster says he’s just an easygoing boy—no trouble, no chaos, just peaceful dog energy. We are just now going to quote some of things his fosters have to say about him, they are seasoned fosters and know a great dog when they meet one. River takes treats sooo gently River snuggles on the couch with our big pack of misfit dogs! Great at sharing! River is completely house trained River is the perfect mix of mellow and playful. Except the playful is more prancing with dogs. On the rare occasion he wants to play with the dogs, he does a prancing “dance” to invite! Great car rider and fantastic on the leash Loves the rope toy and playing tug-o-war with other dogs and us. Goes after the ball! River is great around other dogs and he loves being a pack animal. He doesn’t need a home with other dogs but he clearly does well with them! Some of the different dog temperament and personalities of the dogs he is fostered with include the queen bee- senior pittie female- she has no reservations correcting dogs if they get too rowdy. River is such a sweet gentleman, he makes sure to not react or bother her. She loves River because he is very relaxed and finds his spot on the floor or on the couch. You will find the assertive male dog and boy does love River! River is mindful and respectful of him. River has also accepted corrections from him and too if ever warranted! There are some aloof females and males that he will play with. He gets bouts of the zoomies in the back yard and mostly romps around with the dogs. He likes to be that awkward 3rd, 4th, or even 5th wheel! If you watched his video, then you also saw how incredibly gentle and tolerant he is with his favorite buddy! A 7 month old foster puppy named. Lily. He clearly is so unbothered by her climbing all over him, sharing toys, kissing, nibbling, invading his space while he is trying to relax, messing with his tail, or any of the things puppies like to do.His foster mom says they are like two peas in a pod and that it is almost like he has taken it upon himself to assume the "big brother" or "fun uncle" role. Seeing how gentle he is, even with a puppy, is simply who is to his core. A gentle giant. With cats, he was politely aloof—“Huh. A cat. Okay.” He went on an overnight stay with a cat for further testing and did initially bark at the cat. Once the cat hissed at him, he did not mind her the rest of the time. One thing to note is that his cat is not a very active cat. She does not run or play around. Every cat has different personalities. Please inquire to get further cat testing. River’s long legs would like a nice long yard. He doesn’t need constant exercise or intense stimulation, just love, gentle structure, space to stretch out, and a comfy place to nap. He’s gorgeous, calm, sweet, and big—but somehow still tiptoes through life like he doesn’t want to bother anyone. If your heart is set on a truly huggable best friend who brings peace, steadiness, gentle companionship and who would love having a dog buddy at home; River is ready for the role. Story
Huskies are known for being diva-ish, opinionated, and a total vibe- Daphne is only here to affirm the “stero-type.” Daphne has presence and is the full Husky experience - independent, clever, athletic, vocal, and absolutely gorgeous! Take a look and see for yourself then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/NP1moGvOHoI Daphne is estimated to be about 3 years old, she weighs 50 lbs, and I think you could guess- we suspect she is a husky. Of course given she is a rescue we cannot guarantee breed or age, you understand. Huskies often get described as being aloof with other dogs, independent, and not “dog-social” but Daphne would like to challenge that stereotype. Is Daphne dog-social? Absolutely! Daphne doesn’t just “do well” with dogs-she thrives among them. She is fostered in a loving home alongside 5 pitbulls and is a regular at a local doggie-daycare where she plays in groups of 25–50 dogs and slips right into the social scene like she’s been taking notes on play and manners her whole life. Her foster has shared that Daphne understands dog language beautifully, reads dogs energy well, corrects fairly when needed, avoids pointless conflict, and coexists with grace. mGive her a calm but playful companion or let her live solo- she will be content either way. Daphne’s energy shifts depending on the setting. In the yard? She’s on squirrel patrol, sprinting her rounds with purpose and pride. On hikes and adventures? She’s curious, confident, and totally in her element. Indoors? She settles in, stretches out, and becomes a calm companion no matter the time of day. She uses a doggy door like a pro, is fully house trained, and loads into the car with ease and zero drama. A couple things she would like you to know she would prefer to pass on- crates, apartments, cheap treats, and living with a cat. She is willing to negotiate about the crate but you will hear her argument each time you ask her to go into her crate. She won’t drag it out but a little sass is guaranteed. Apartments? Well, she might not mind them but they mind her. The song of her ancestors cannot be contained yet they want to silence her. Plus, how could she possibly continue her diligent monitoring of the squirrels? From a window? I think not! Simply her zest for space, movement, and squirrel management requires a yard and a high enough fence to remind her to patrol but not pursue the squirrels. She does want you to know though (she is proud) her determination plus her athleticism means she can clear things if she wants to. A Husky person will understand and adore her! She might even be the dog that turns you into a husky devotee! True to her breed, Daphne is smart, capable, treat-picky, and wonderfully expressive. She knows sit, loves chase and swimming, and can handle mouthy but appropriate play with dogs she trusts. She isn’t super cuddly (Husky) but she is affectionate, she gives kisses, adores gentle closeness, and will make her requests for belly rubs very clear. Her dream home? Well in Daphne’s perfect world: ✔ A yard (non-negotiable) ✔ No cats (cousin to squirrels, she is sure of it!) ✔ A calm, respectful dog companion OR happy solo life ✔ A Husky-savvy adopter who loves independence as much as affection ✔ Older kids are fine—she’s been great with a 7 year old and an 11-year-old ✔ A quieter or suburban area, not a dense city She isn’t a dog for someone wanting a couch-only snuggle buddy. She is a dog for someone who understands the magic of a Husky: independent, hilarious, athletic, loyal and full of personality. And of course, because Daphne has opinions, she would love to share them with someone who listens. In return you will get… ✔ A confident, steady, beautifully social Husky. ✔ A dog who handles new dogs with ease. ✔ A yard companion who keeps squirrels humble and at bay ✔ A clever friend who speaks in woo-woo monologues. ✔ A loyal partner for adventures big and small. She may not be right for everyone but for that one, she is going to be the unforgettable one. Ready to welcome Daphne home?
