Story
Meet Rose She is a blind 5/6 year old Shiba with a heart of gold. She embodies bravery and great resilience. She cant see or is greatly vision impaired. She was terrified at the CA kill shelter but allowed staff and vet to handle her just fine. She has been the sweetest and most loving girl. She ended up at the shelter due to her owners not being able to afford her vet care. She did in fact need to lose both her eyes and thankfully for her our rescue took care of all the vet bills to get her ready for an adopter. With all her fur you can barley even tell she doesn’t have eyes She uses her nose and hearing to navigate her way around. Her fosters also use a marking word to let her know when there is a step. Don't let her eyes hold you back from this lover, she doesn’t even notice she is blind. **She loves to go for walks and hang out outside and play with toys **Crate, house and leash trained **Good with other dogs but when meeting new dogs she needs time to smell them before allowing them in her face **Loves everyone and loves pets. She’s been a big hit at breweries and adoption events ALL POSO DOGS COME WITH FULL VETTING AND 2 FREE DOG TRAINING SESSONS

Story
Nyako is a precious Shiba Inu that is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes in timid, shy dogs.  She is an owner surrender (due to no fault of her own), and is guessed to be around 6 years old.   She is absolutely adorable and so sweet, and her foster mom says she is making great progress, but is still very nervous around new people. She is fully kennel trained, it is her safe place.  She loves to be out in the dog run and big yard. She is potty trained at her foster mom's house.  She has just started to learn to be scratched/cuddled and to walk nicely on leash, but will need someone to introduce her to the world slowly to give her time to adjust to her new life. There are lots of other dogs at her foster mom's house so we know she is dog friendly, her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced properly.  She thinks she would do better in a home with a confident dog or in a quiet home with adults or older quiet kids. She will need an adopter who will give her love and patience. Please consider this adorable girl as a part of your new family. She deserves all the kindness in the world and will give you a lifetime of love.  The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs and LOVE their humans.  She has so much love to give and is looking for her FurEver Home. Her foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter who is willing to help her continue with her training and help her gain confidence either with in person, or virtual training session(s). She will provide a discount on training.  The amount of training needed will depend on the knowledge and experience of the adopter and how far along Nyako is at the time of adoption.

Story
Making the most of his second chance at life, 3-year-old Murry could easily be called Mr. Personality. At 35 pounds, this happiest of high-energy “hams” lives and loves LARGE, thriving on the attention of his foster mom and impressing her by stretch walking where he drags his legs and walks around – like a cobra pose in yoga! Sweet and snuggly, he loves cuddling with her, resting his head on her, rolling over for belly rubs, showing his paw for even more loving, and having his luxurious coat gently brushed. He’s always gentle around children and to say he LOVES other dogs is an understatement. Murry loves playing with them, reading their cues well, and especially enjoys romping around with them at the dog park. He also LOVES chewing bones, playing fetch, frolicking through the snow, and going for daily walks, runs and hikes with his foster mom. A great fan of salmon skin and liver dog treats, accepting then gently, he’s motivated by love and currently knows “come,” “sit,” “down,” “stay” and “no,” is crate trained and almost fully leash and house-trained. Now Mr. Personality hopes to win the hearts of an especially active home, preferably with another playful pup, that will complete his training, including his commands, and promise to adore him fur-ever. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $300. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Biography Important Information Please read! If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Gidget, and I am a sweet Shiba Inu baby girl who was born 8/28/23, and I weigh 12 pounds. Dogtor says I have some movement in my knees, but they don’t go out and, as little as I am, it should not pose a problem. I need a home where I will get lots of attention as I am very social and children over 20 years old would be fine with me. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Shiba Inu baby, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Gidget 021724-10April 25, 2024, 9:49 pm

Story
Sizzle, at 5 years young and 17lbs, is a gentle soul who is learning to trust and embrace the world around her. Her journey is a testament to her resilience and capacity for growth. This lovely Shiba Inu is on a path of discovery, understanding that hands can bring comfort and kindness. Her bravery is steadily on the rise, and she's making progress one paw at a time. Sizzle will approach people for treats but is still not sure about this whole "being pet" thing. While she may be timid, her confidence soars when she's in the company of another dog, and she finds comfort and courage in their presence.Sizzle is mostly leash trained, but for her safety and enjoyment, a 4ft fence is recommended, ensuring she can explore and play freely in a secure environment. This lovely pup revels in the simple joys of life, including fluffy blankets and the wonderful world of scents. Her patient nature means that she may take more time to fully open up, but once she does, the rewards are boundless.Sizzle has had a few seizures during her time with us, but her current medication regime seems to be working well. Our medical staff can provide you with information on managing her condition. Despite this hurdle, Sizzle remains determined to overcome all the adversity she has faced in her life and find joy and comfort in her forever home.If you're prepared to offer a loving and patient home to Sizzle, she's ready to unveil her true colors and share her heart with you. Apply at nmdr.org and let Sizzle's journey of trust and discovery begin with you!- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
