Story
Panko needs a home with no kids and no dogs. He has not been tested with cats. He is bonded to his humom most and is generally more drawn to women. He is a bit of a cuddle bug, so he would do best with a female as his primary caregiver and snuggle buddy. Panko has been with his family his entire life. He's always been a bit of an anxious dog, which causes him to guard his precious resources. It has always been manageable by eliminating high value treats and giving him his own safe space to eat his meals. After bringing home their 1st child, Panko's anxiety has increased significantly, making his guarding worse. His family recognizes it's not good for him to live with this high level of stress all the time and have made the difficult decision to rehome him. He will need a foster/adopter who understands or is experienced with resource guarding. He is currently working with a highly skilled and experienced trainer and is making amazing progress with counter conditioning. Adopters MUST be willing to have multiple meet and greets with Panko and begin working on training prior to placement. Continued training after placement will also be a requirement. Panko is house trained and was crate trained as a puppy but hasn't used it in a long time. He's a well-behaved boy, and in a home with no kids or pets, would not have a reason to be crated. We have dog tested him and he may be able to have dog friends in the future but will still need to be an only dog. Panko is used to getting 2 walks a day, which helps with his anxiety, so he will need a family who is active. Panko is a very sweet social Shiba. He loves meeting new people and getting scratches! He will always remember a new friend and will give a tail wag and want to say hello when he bumps into them. He has lots of energy and never tires on his walks. He is used to having a yard and loves to roll in fresh green grass and his favorite game is biting at the water from the hose. Story
Hi, I'm Fox! I'm around 9 months old and look to be a Beagle/Shiba mix, but that's jsut a guess! I'm a playful and sweet boy who is ready to find my forever home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2467886##

Story
Eeyore is a timid Shiba Inu mix with a gentle heart and a soft soul. He’s very fearful in new environments and needs time, patience, and a calm space to decompress. When he’s scared, he doesn’t bark or react - he simply withdraws and waits to feel safe.In his first few days with us, he was very anxious and needed a cozy “safe zone” to adjust. With patience, he’s begun to blossom. He now enjoys head scratches, cuddles, and sleeping near his people. He’s incredibly quiet (we’ve only heard him bark once!) and very tolerant of handling — he allows being picked up and gently guided without issue.Eeyore is housebroken, sleeps through the night, and has done great with free roam in the home. He walks on leash but is still building confidence and may need to be carried at first in a new setting. He has lived with small dogs and coexists peacefully. We’re unsure about cats or children, but due to his sensitive nature, a quiet, mature home would likely be best.”Eeyore isn’t the life-of-the-party type - he’s a slow-blooming, loyal companion who bonds deeply once he feels safe. If you have a calm home and a patient heart, this sweet boy could be your perfect match.I’m currently in a loving foster home offsite! Please contact my foster parent, Charlene, at charlenestrain95@gmail.com or text 314-225-7377 to inquire about me or set up a visit! Please allow up to 24 hours for my foster parent to respond.Inquiries are answered in the order received, and the foster parent will let you know your place in line if there are other interested adopters. A meet-and-greet is required before adoption. Adopters should be available to meet within 48 hours of inquiring; otherwise, preference may be given to the next person in line who can meet sooner. For everyone’s safety, current pets are not able to meet the foster animal before adoption. After the meet-and-greet, you will have 24 hours to visit the HSPPR Adoptions Lobby (11:00am–4:30pm) to complete paperwork and finalize the adoption.
