Story
**Note: Currently, Gaga is in Korea, but he will fly to Toronto on Jan 27. Background Gaga was rescued from a slaughterhouse in Siheung, Korea in the summer of 2023. After her rescue, she spent over two years in a local shelter, waiting for a family that never came. Despite being a sweet and gentle dog, she had no luck finding her forever family in Korea. When we learned about Gaga, her story stayed with us. She felt like the kind of dog who would make a wonderful companion, so we brought her into our care to give her a new chance. We believe her forever home is out there and that someone is waiting for her, even if they have not met her yet. Personality and socialization Gaga is a friendly and social girl who warms up quickly, even with strangers. She is not shy and enjoys meeting new people. Once she knows you, she becomes very affectionate and loving. She likes to stay close to her humans and enjoys cuddling, being petted, and spending time together. She is playful in a gentle way and enjoys companionship more than constant activity. She has a soft presence and makes people feel calm around her. With other dogs, Gaga does best with calm and friendly dogs. She is often indifferent to other dogs but gets along well with those who are relaxed and easygoing. Dogs who are overly energetic, loud, or dominant can make her uncomfortable, and she will usually choose to keep her distance. Behaviour Gaga has a nice balance of independence and affection. She enjoys spending time with her people but is also content having quiet time on her own. She has been a quiet dog and has not shown much barking. So far, she has not shown signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavour. She enjoys leash walks and does well in the car. At the vet, she may whine but will cooperate. During baths, she may complain a bit but allows handling without big issues. Gaga does not like sudden movements without warning. Being grabbed or picked up unexpectedly can scare her. She does best with gentle and respectful handling. When she feels safe, she is a wonderful snuggler. Health and diet Gaga is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She has been dewormed and is on monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry food twice a day and has been a good eater. She has not shown any allergies. She is healthy and ready for her forever home. Ideal home Gaga is an easygoing and lovely dog to have around. She would do well in most households, especially with someone who spends a good amount of time at home and enjoys including their dog in daily life. A calm home with a relaxed lifestyle would be ideal for her. Gaga is ready to finally settle down and enjoy the simple joys of being loved. She has waited a long time for her chance, and she will make a loyal and gentle companion for the right family. ------------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/gaga-2/

Story
Meet Dongree   Breed: Shiba mix Age: 4 years old Sex: Spayed female Colour: Brown Weight: 14kg Height (to shoulder): 45cm   Rescue Story   Donggree was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list and has been waiting patiently ever since for a family of her own.   She may take a few days to open up — usually between 3 days to a week — but once she feels safe, her loving and playful personality shines through. She’s affectionate with familiar people and allows gentle handling or even being lifted once trust is built.   Personality & Socialization   Donggree has the classic Shiba mix personality — a little cautious at first, independent, yet deeply loyal once she bonds with you.   She gets along well with most dogs, both larger and smaller, but can react if another dog challenges her. For this reason, careful introductions with new dogs are recommended. With friendly dogs, however, she loves to play and enjoys companionship.   Her reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet.   Energy Level & Behavior   Donggree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor walks and activities but settles calmly afterward. She walks well overall, though she may pull on the leash occasionally. Once the leash is on, she follows nicely and enjoys the walk.   She doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs and behaves quietly in her kennel. She feels anxious about car rides, so she prefers to be held during transport.   She’s comfortable using both pee pads indoors and pottying outdoors, which makes her adaptable to different home environments.   A Loyal and Independent Spirit   Donggree is a bright, affectionate girl with that unmistakable Shiba charm — loyal, clean, and quietly confident. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and consistency, she opens up to reveal a loving heart.   Once she trusts you, she’ll become your faithful shadow, following you with her signature calm energy and gentle eyes.   Ideal Home: A patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build trust. A home that appreciates the independent but affectionate nature of Shiba mixes would be perfect for her.   Donggree may take a little time to trust, but once she does, she’ll stay by your side for life — loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength. QUICK FACTS Name: Miller Age: 3 years old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Shiba & Jindo mix Color: Beige & Cream Weight: 10kg / 22lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I’m not sure how I ended up all alone in the city pound, but I was placed on the euthanasia list simply because there wasn’t enough space for dogs like me. Despite that scary chapter, I never lost my gentle, loving heart—and now I’m just hoping to find the forever family who will give me the safe, happy life I’ve been waiting for.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Neutered & healthy with no known health issues I had to undergo surgery to remove my right eye, but my left eye has good vision and no issues.   MY PERSONALITY Hi! I’m Miller. I’m not sure how my right eye got injured, but when I was rescued, it was in a very bad shape and I needed surgery to have it removed. Even with just my left eye, I don’t let it slow me down or dampen my spirit! I’m a sweet, gentle boy who truly loves people. I’m naturally a little shy at first, but with patience I warm up—and volunteers and staff can always see that I want to interact, even if I hesitate in the beginning. I’m getting braver every day, learning to trust more, and showing more of my affectionate, friendly side as I grow confident.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be shy in the beginning, but I’ll gently take treats from your hand. After I warm up, I’m comfortable with pets and gentle affection. Once trust is established, I can be picked up. I’m a sweet boy who enjoys people, and as I grow more confident and settled in my new home, I’ll become a loyal shadow. · With Dogs: I’m pretty indifferent with other dogs. I can get overwhelmed by high-energy pups and prefer to do my own thing, calmly observing the environment. If another dog is rude or pushy, I simply walk away from the drama and avoid conflict. ·With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to find the best match!   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level—I enjoy spending time outdoors, but I’m just as happy to snuggle up indoors afterward.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk well on leash and follow my handler’s lead nicely. I don’t guard my food around people or other dogs—in fact, I have a big appetite and love treats, so I’m eager to please and learn. I’m confident I’ll pick up training quickly. I’m very quiet and rarely bark, and I know how to rest calmly in my kennel. I do struggle with car rides, as I can get motion sickness. I potty both indoors (on pee pads) and outdoors, though I may mark a little when I’m adjusting to a new environment.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself, and a stable environment. A family that understands my rough past and is patient with me throughout and continue to provide me with basic training and socialization. A family that enjoys outdoor & indoor time together. A family that will love and cherish me forever. Ideally, a family experienced with Shibas and primitive breeds. The only dog in the household.   SPECIAL NOTES Don’t let my shyness fool you—I’m a sweet boy who really does like people. I just need a little time at first to show my affectionate side. I’m improving every day, and I’m confident that in a loving home I’ll fully come out of my shell and express myself. I wag my tail and show interest in people, even if I hesitate at the start. I love treats and I’m very food-motivated, so I’m eager to learn and please. I’m considered to be a level 3 rescue dog, meaning I will take at least a week to open up and feel more settled in a new environment. I must wear my martingale collar at all times and double-leashed to my harness and collar with a GPS tracker when outside to keep me safe.   Miller's YouTube Playlist   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2595121##

Story
🏠 Currently  in a Vancouver foster home Hi, I’m Tanya 🤍 Let me tell you my story as I wait for my forever family. I was rescued from a shelter where euthanasia was imminent. With only a short time left, a miracle happened—and I was given a second chance at life. The bright, affectionate dog you see today exists because of that precious second miracle. I’m a loving girl who truly enjoys being close to people. I’m curious, cheerful, and full of warmth. When I get excited, I have short bursts of playful “zoomies,” but overall I have a calm and well-balanced energy. I have a pretty regular potty routine—about three times a day (around 8 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.). I can do both indoor and outdoor potty, and I usually use pads in my resting area. I’m not perfect yet, so a little continued potty training would help me shine even more. I eat twice a day and have been enjoying Royal Canin Medium kibble mixed with fresh Duet meals. I have a great appetite and love treats of all kinds! Because I do love food a bit too much, it’s best to keep human food safely out of reach. I’m very cooperative when it comes to grooming. I tolerate paw cleaning after walks, tooth brushing, baths, and even drying—none of them are my favorite, but I stay calm and patient. Nail trims have been done at the vet so far. I’m friendly and social with dogs of all sizes and get along well in group settings. On walks, I might pull a little if I see cats or big birds out of curiosity, but I haven’t shown any aggression toward cats. I bond deeply with my person and love staying close—I even prefer sleeping together. With strangers, I tend to warm up faster to women than men, but once I feel safe, my affection comes through. I walk nicely on leash with little pulling, though I sometimes circle around my person, so a shorter leash helps with control. I’m comfortable wearing both a collar and a harness. Stairs going down are still tricky for me, so I need to be carried, but going up is no problem at all. I love toys, especially squeaky ones—they’re my absolute favorite! I don’t have separation anxiety and can spend time alone calmly and confidently. I love human warmth. I understand the joy of living together. Once so close to the end, I’m now waiting for a family to share my whole life with. Will you be my forever family? 🐾
