Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Jessica (jesswalton.jw@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Winston is a 1-year-old Shiba Inu mix with endless energy, a huge heart, and a second chance at the life he always deserved. Before coming to rescue, Winston only knew a home filled with yelling and fear. After his owner was hospitalized, he was surrendered — and despite everything he endured, Winston still chose to trust people. Not only trust them, but absolutely love them. This boy wants nothing more than to be near his humans at all times. If you sit down, Winston is right there beside you. If there’s a bed available, he fully believes it belongs to both of you. He’s affectionate, cuddly, playful, mischievous, and always ready for the next adventure. Winston is smart and full of potential. He’s already housetrained and eager to learn, but he’ll need guidance, consistency, and someone willing to help him channel all that youthful energy into becoming the amazing dog he’s meant to be. He loves fetch with tennis balls, tug-of-war with rope toys, chewing on bones, and honestly, he’s happy to accept just about any treat or snack offered his way. He’s somewhat chatty, especially around mealtime, and his lively personality keeps everyone smiling. Winston does well with children and other dogs, but he would do best in a home without cats. More than anything, Winston deserves a family that will show him what kindness, patience, and unconditional love really look like. After everything he’s been through, he’s still loving, happy, and ready to give his whole heart to someone. Winston is neutered, up to date on shots, housetrained, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an application found on Castaway Critters website using this link: https://www.castawaycritters.org/apply-to-adopt .Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 15, 2026, 4:20 pm

Story
Nellie is a 5 year old Shiba Inu. We got her as a puppy in 2020. She is snuggly, playful, energetic and loves people. She doesn’t do well with other pets or young children. She is an anxious dog that would thrive in a calm home environment. The perfect home for Nellie would be one where she is the only kid - someone who can take her on adventures and play fetch with her or just snuggle with her. Unfortunately, we have to rehome our sweet girl after she bit our daughter who was trying to play with her. Nellie will do fine with older children who can understand Nellie’s signals for “leave me alone” (baring teeth, side eye) but younger children just cannot comprehend. She deserves a loving home where she can be the center of attention.

Story
Say hi to Rye! This adorable senior Shiba was found as a stray and is now looking for his new furever home. Don`t let his age fool you because he still has plenty of pep. Rye can be a little shy at first, but enjoys affection once he`s comfortable. He is not afraid to speak his mind, as Shibas do, so apartment living may not be ideal. He is open to living with kids of all ages and possibly small animals like cats. He would like to be the only dog in the home. Rye is a great little guy and he deserves a wonderful home for his golden years. Could you find room in your heart for him?If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared - bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mashed Tater — but everyone calls him TATER! Tater hasn’t had the kind of start any dog deserves. He came to us in November as part of our “Thanksgiving Crew,” rescued from a home where he lived with nearly 16 other dogs. We were only able to bring six of the younger dogs to safety, leaving others behind—a reality that still weighs heavily on us. These dogs had never felt grass under their paws. They didn’t know what a collar or leash was. Their world was overcrowded, chaotic, and built on survival. There was no structure, no security—only a pack mentality where the strongest got by. Out of all of them, Tater carries the deepest emotional scars. He is not a bad dog—he is a scared one. When he feels overwhelmed or threatened, he can react out of fear. What he needs isn’t punishment—it’s patience, understanding, and someone willing to help him feel safe in a world that has never been kind to him. Tater is crate trained and house trained. He does well with other dogs and genuinely enjoys playing, though his style can be a bit rough due to his past. He would do best with a confident dog who can tolerate him while he learns appropriate play. He will need a home without children, and we are unsure how he would do with cats. ⭐️What Tater needs most right now is someone experienced—either a trainer or a dedicated handler—who understands fearful dogs and is willing to invest the time to help him grow. ⭐️He needs exposure to new experiences at his own pace, guidance to build confidence, and reassurance that he is safe. An in-home environment would be ideal, as a kennel setting may only increase his fear. ⭐️We are searching for someone truly special. Someone patient. Someone compassionate. Someone who sees past the fear and believes in the dog underneath it. Tater deserves a chance—not just to exist, but to feel safe, to trust, and to be happy. With the right person, we truly believe he can get there. Please don't wait.....if you have the experience and the heart to help him, please reach out. He needs you.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Giblet — aka Gibby! Gibby answers to many names… mostly because he can’t hear a single one of them This adorable 1-year-old Shiba Inu mix is completely deaf, but don’t let that fool you — it doesn’t slow him down one bit! Gibby is spunky, playful, and full of life. He came from an overcrowded home where he didn’t get much one-on-one socialization, so slow and gentle introductions are the key to winning his trust (and his heart). Once he feels safe, his personality shines. He’s been doing great with potty training and is learning his house manners, but he does get anxious if crated for long periods. Gibby would thrive in a home where he isn’t left alone too often and can feel included in daily life. This energetic guy would love a confident, playful canine companion his size or larger to zoom around the yard with — or an active family who enjoys long walks and adventures. He plays a bit rough, so small dogs and small children wouldn’t be the best match. He is good with dog-savvy cats, though! Gibby is up to date on all his vetting and is simply looking for a special family willing to take things slow and help him navigate the world as a deaf dog. With patience, structure, and love, Gibby will make a loyal, fun, and truly special companion. Could you be the one to show Gibby that being different is pretty wonderful? &#226&#156&#168 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.
