Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mabel! Mabel is a beautiful 4-year-old tan and white Shih Tzu who is a puppy mill survivor. Since coming into rescue, she has made wonderful progress and is beginning to enjoy the comforts and security of life in a loving home. Like many mill dogs, Mabel is still gaining confidence every day. She is doing well with housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule and is learning to walk on a leash. She enjoys riding in the car and especially loves spending time with her person. Watching her personality continue to blossom has been incredibly rewarding. Mabel gets along well with other dogs and must have a companion dog of similar size and energy to help her continue building confidence. She also requires a secure, physically fenced yard, as she is still learning that the world is a safe place. Because of her puppy mill background, Mabel will do best with an experienced owner who understands that patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement are the keys to helping her continue to thrive. She is looking for a family that will allow her to progress at her own pace and celebrate each new milestone along the way. Mabel would do best in a home with no children under the age of five. She also requires a strong veterinary reference. If you have another friendly small dog, a securely fenced yard, and the patience to help a deserving little girl continue her journey, Mabel may be the perfect addition to your family. Mabel's adoption donation is $550 and she is being fostered in Athens, Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, is on flea prevention, and has also had a dental cleaning.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  August 13, 2026, 3:51 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Patrick! Some dogs let life define them. Patrick never got the memo. Born with a deformity in his front left leg, Patrick has spent his entire life proving that different doesn't mean limited. He runs, plays, explores, and keeps up with his canine friends without letting his disability slow him down. It's simply the way he was born—and to Patrick, it's no big deal. Patrick is a handsome 3-year-old Poodle with a gentle heart and a quiet spirit. He absolutely loves other dogs and lights up when he has a canine friend to play with or nap beside. Whether he's exploring the yard, enjoying the fresh air, or relaxing after a fun play session, Patrick finds joy in the simple things. Like many puppy mill survivors, Patrick is still learning that people can be trusted. While he may be shy at first, beneath that timid exterior is a sweet boy just waiting for someone to show him that the world can be a safe and loving place. With patience, kindness, and a little time, Patrick's personality continues to shine a little brighter every day. His front leg has never caused him pain, and while he occasionally uses it for balance when standing, he has adapted beautifully. Patrick doesn't see himself as different—and neither should you. His disability has never kept him from enjoying life, playing with his dog friends, or doing all the things dogs love to do. Patrick approaches house training the same way he approaches everything else—with determination. He continues to make great progress when kept on a consistent schedule and will thrive with a patient, understanding family committed to helping him continue his journey. Patrick's ideal home will have a securely fenced yard, another friendly dog (that loves to play) to help build his confidence, and a family that understands that trust is earned, not rushed. In return, you'll gain an incredibly resilient companion who reminds you every day that life's challenges don't define who we are. Patrick's adoption donation is $625. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, as well as flea prevention. He has also had a dental cleaning. If you're looking for a dog who embodies resilience, quiet courage, and unconditional love, Patrick is ready to show you that sometimes the strongest hearts come in the smallest packages. ❤️ Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Esme — a precious puppy mill momma discovering the joy of being cherished Esme is a sweet puppy mill momma who is finally getting the chance to experience life at her own pace. After a past that didn’t always put her needs first, she’s now learning how wonderful warm blankets, gentle voices, and full tummies can be—and she’s doing a great job. This calm little lady has perfected the art of cozy naps and can usually be found snoozing in the warmest spot she can find. Esme loves treats (seriously, treats are her love language!) and has discovered that they pair quite nicely with gentle belly rubs. She does well settling into a crate, rides nicely in the car, and is slowly warming up to spending time outside, even joining the other dogs for short adventures and the occasional happy dash. Esme has a low energy level and enjoys a peaceful, low-key lifestyle. She does best when kept on a consistent routine, with the understanding that there will always be a transition period as she adjusts to a new home. She gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from a calm canine companion to help guide her. As a mill momma, Esme is still learning that human touch is kind and safe. Loud noises can startle her, so a quieter home with a patient, mill-dog-experienced adopter would be ideal. She is comfortable being alone for short periods, making her a good match for someone with a relaxed or part-time schedule. Given time, patience, and lots of love, this deserving momma will continue to blossom into the sweet companion she was always meant to be. If you have a gentle heart, a warm blanket, and a little extra patience, Esme is ready to meet you. Esme’s adoption donation is $475, and she is being fostered in Cleveland area. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home — she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. She has tested negative for heartworm and has been started on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and she has also had a dental cleaningVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog.
