Story
Hi! My name is Forest, and I’m an energetic 16-week-old Shipoo puppy with the softest fur you’ll ever feel and a heart just as sweet. I weigh approximately 7 pounds, and while I may be tiny, my personality is full of love, curiosity, and cuddles.
Before coming into rescue, I was brought to a vet clinic in desperate need of medical attention, which led to exploratory surgery. There was concern that I had a blockage, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. The doctors did notice markings on my intestines that they felt should be biopsied. We are so relieved to share that the results came back as nothing serious — it appears to have been inflammation, likely from something I ate. Because of that, the vet feels I should remain on a hypoallergenic diet .
My previous owner loved me very much but didn’t have the financial means to cover surgery and extensive testing without knowing what the outcome would be. Wanting the very best for me, they made the heartbreaking decision to surrender me. Just Paws made a plea for help, and thanks to the incredible generosity of so many donors, a lot of my medical care was covered. I am so grateful to everyone who helped give me a second chance.
Now that I’m feeling good, I’m ready to focus on being the happiest puppy I can be! I love spending my days playing hard and cuddling even harder. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but once I get to know you, I’m incredibly affectionate and devoted.
Fetch is one of my favorite games, and my current favorite toy is my red panda, Rodrigo. He sleeps with me in my crate every night, and I proudly carry him around like my little sidekick.
I enjoy going for walks and do pretty well on my leash. I sometimes get distracted (there’s just so much to see!), but I’m easily redirected. After every walk, my paws get cleaned, so I’m very comfortable having my feet handled — nail trims are a breeze!
I rarely have accidents in the house because my foster takes me out every couple of hours, which has helped me build great habits. I’m learning new things every day! Stairs used to be scary, but now I can go up like a pro. I’ve already mastered “sit” and I’m working on “down” and other fun tricks.
I haven’t been socialized much yet, but so far I seem to be okay with other dogs. I haven’t met any cats. I also do well in the car! Because I’m still a young puppy, I’ll need a patient, committed home that will continue my training and enroll me in puppy classes so I can grow into the very best girl I’m meant to be. I’m also spayed.
If you’re looking for a little bestie with a brave spirit, a soft coat that will need regular grooming, and endless love to give, I just might be your girl!
