Story
Bentley is 9 years old. He spent his entire life with his companion dog who just passed away. Bentley loves to cuddle, play fetch and play with his toys. Our busy lives, unfortunately, don’t provide the time for him. We want him to have more quality time with his owner and perhaps a pet companion. Bentley is very protective of his food. He doesn’t like people or animals near him when he is eating.

Story
Sparky came to us with a broken front leg. Due to the location of the fracture and the time it had been since his injury, repairing it via surgery would have been very difficult and possibly not successful.  Because of this, amputation was recommended...however the surgeon also mentioned just leaving it as-is since he was walking on it and it didn't seem to affect his mobility.  There is a good likelihood that he will develop arthritis at some point however.  So his adopters would need to be able to manage that if/when it happens. Here is what his fostermom has to say about this cutie: Sparky is a spunky, handsome, brown and white, estimated DOB 3/2023, 14-pound Shih Tzu who has the personality of a goofy teddy bear. He is a talkative guy and likes his opinions to be known. He has shown to be good with adults and children over 5. He gets along with other friendly dogs, but loves to pester the cats in his foster home. So a forever home without cats would suit him best. He’s doing great as far as potty training goes, but will need scheduled back yard potty breaks to get him into the routine in his new home. He came into the rescue with an injured left leg and it is possible he will need medical care in the future (all information will be given to potential adopters). Long walks are not really his thing, but he would love to stroll and sniff around his own fenced yard. Apartments would not be a good fit for him due to his talkative nature. ?

Story
10 year old, very sensitive and loving dog. We're no longer able to provide all the attention and love that he needs. He's healthy as a horse, never been sick, all vet appts and vaccines, etc is up to date. Has had lots of love and no trauma, etc. We've had him since a puppy. Super smart and loves to lick and snuggle with humans (not so much with other dogs as he's a bit scary and may bark at them to protect you etc). Overall, we haven't had any issues or problems. The kids are older and are pursuing their careers now we are empty nesters ie travel, careers, etc. We want him to have a loving home where he can get 10 more years of love. He's a house doggie and spoiled. He's a great companion for someone living alone, retired local couple, etc. We're in no rush, but want to make sure he's placed in a good home, ideally near Sacramento or Folsom, CA. We'll miss the lil' fella a lot, but it's good for him to have a family that's more stable and provide consistency.
