💕 Meet Lillian — 11 Years Old, 14Pounds, and Very Much Her Own Woman 💕
Lillian is a beautiful 11-year-old, 14-pound Shih Tzu who has joined us through absolutely no fault of her own.
This is an owner surrender, but it’s an important one to understand: Lillian is extremely loved by her family. ❤️
Her family now has a baby who is becoming a walking, exploring toddler—and toddlers aren’t exactly known for respecting personal space.
Lillian, on the other hand, is VERY aware of personal space. 😂
Think of her a little like a cat.
She loves her people. She enjoys affection. She wants to be part of your life.
But sometimes Lillian says, “Okay, that’s enough touching now.”
With adults who understand dog body language, that’s perfectly manageable. Lillian communicates that she’s uncomfortable and tries to remove herself from the situation.
A toddler can’t understand those signals.
So her family has made the incredibly difficult decision to find Lillian a home better suited to what she needs for this stage of her life.
And we’re going to help them do exactly that. ❤️

Lillian isn’t the right match for a first-time dog owner. Her person needs to be comfortable reading canine body language and understand that loving a dog also means respecting when that dog is telling you she needs some space.
She’s not looking for someone who expects her to tolerate absolutely anything simply because she’s small, fluffy and adorable.
She’s looking for someone who appreciates a dog with opinions, boundaries and a few quirks.
Because here’s the other thing about Lillian:
People love her.
Everyone who gets to know this funny little girl seems to fall for her—quirks and all. ❤️
At 11 years old, Lillian knows who she is. She’s not applying for the position of stuffed animal, and she’s certainly not interested in being climbed on by toddlers.
She’s applying for the position of beloved companion.
Give her some walks, a comfortable place to nap, respect her boundaries, and let her be the wonderfully quirky little lady she already is.
Lillian doesn’t need someone to change her.
She just needs someone who gets her. 💕🐾

Her minimum adoption donation amount is $245 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
We are located in Bloomington, IL
We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state.
Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt.
