Meet Pete! Pete is currently in foster care learning that he is safe and how to be a dog. Now that he feels safe in his foster home, he is sweet and loving and loves to sleep right next to you at night. He loves other dogs, but does need some time to adjust when meeting them. He plays well with them (after he knows them) and is learning from his new pack to go potty outside. He may not have had potty training or had to go potty outside previously. Now, his foster dog brothers & sister are helping his foster mom teach him that going outside to potty is fun, because you get to explore and play too (and maybe get lots of treats). He does resource guard his favorite toy, blankets and dog beds. His foster mom is working with him on that (sometimes this is a response to a new home and sometimes this is something that is longer term). However, he does not resource guard food, which is amazing, if you have other pets in the house. He will share his food with all the pups in his foster home. So, it is likely that he will do well in a house on his own or with other dogs. It is reocmmended that he is not in a home with small children as they may grab something that he doesn't want to share and he will react. Upon arriving at his foster home, Pete was very scared and reactive. It took him two weeks to fully decompress.  He will need someone who is willing to give him time to adapt to a new home. And, he may need multiple meets until he feels comfortable with a potential adopter. But, we are certain that with time and patience, Pete will show that loving, snuggly true self of his.  ##2621365##
