Story
Meet our charming Shih Tzu mix boy named  Sir Ziggy — a young Shih Tzu (mostly Shih Tzu) with a wonderfully playful spirit and a personality that is hard not to fall in love with.  At about 12–15 months old and 13 pounds, Ziggy is the perfect combination of small size and big personality. He is full of energy and absolutely loves interacting with his person. Playing, wrestling, being scooped up and flipped upside down, or simply getting some one-on-one attention — Ziggy is happiest when he is included. He has a wonderfully silly side, and when the zoomies begin, watching him race and bounce around is pure entertainment.   Ziggy genuinely enjoys other dogs and is eager to make friends. Sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him, and he needs a little help understanding that not every dog is quite as excited about playtime as he is. He responds well to guidance and will benefit from someone who can give him appropriate boundaries while still appreciating his exuberant personality. One of the sweetest things about Ziggy is his outlook on life. My goodness is this boy a happy, resilient little guy who doesn't seem to hold a grudge or get discouraged when another dog isn't interested in playing. He simply moves on and finds something else to enjoy. There is a genuine sweetness underneath all that puppy energy. (We could all take a cue on this attitude)  :-)   Ziggy is in good health and is up to date on wellness care, testing, preventatives, and vaccines.   He is looking for a home that will appreciate his enthusiasm for life while helping him continue to learn and mature. A youngish adopter that is 55 and younger might be just what this boy needs. We want him to have consistent boundaries, patience, play, and plenty of affection will go a long way with this boy.   Ziggy isn't looking for a perfect life — just a person who will enjoy his goofy antics, appreciate his affectionate nature, and give him the guidance he needs to grow into the wonderful little companion we know he can be.   If you're looking for a fun-loving little dog who will keep you smiling and happily be your partner in play, Ziggy might just be your guy. ❤️ Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested!!!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 16, 2026, 10:58 pm

Story
Meet Lovable Trey This playful boy is always ready for fun, whether he’s chasing toys, playing with his doggy friends, or zooming around outside his puppy pen. He has a sweet, affectionate side too, with lots of kisses to give and a soft spot for cuddling when he’s being held. Trey is also learning an important life lesson: how to politely stand up to his bossy sister, Trixie! With his playful spirit, loving personality, and adorable snuggly side, Trey is sure to bring plenty of joy and laughter to his forever family.     Trixie and Trey were found together on a hot Sunday afternoon in Tennessee. They were dirty and covered in fleas but that didn't stop the abundance of puppy energy from shining through.  No one ever stepped forward to claim them, and as hard as their beginning was, it turned out to be for the best—because these two little Shih Tzu pups were meant for something so much better. With lots of love and care, they are now happy, healthy, and absolutely thriving!   Their rough start is behind them, and they are ready to find their forever home—either together or individually—while bringing all the fun, laughter, affection, and puppy magic they have to give. Critter Cavalry Rescue has this lovebug in foster care in Tennessee.  We can transport to the New England area on the weekend of August 22nd.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.     August 16, 2026, 10:58 pm

Story
Meet Evie!5 y.o. Shih Tzu, 12-13 lbsNo medical needsEvie is a loyal, spunky girl with more energy than you'd expect from her small frame! She's the kind of dog who picks her person and sticks close. Once she bonds with you, she's devoted, and she'll be your cuddle buddy! She's housebroken, knows sit, down, roll over, shake, and sit pretty. She walks nicely on a leash with a harness. She gets along well with male dogs and warms up to new men with time and treats. Her favorite pastime is sucking on her Pup-weiser stuffy!Evie does best as the only dog or paired with a male dog. She doesn't get along with other female dogs and has had serious conflicts in the past, so a home without a resident female dog is essential. She also has a strong prey drive, so a cat-free home is a must.Evie is being rehomed because her owner is moving to an apartment that can't accommodate her. If you want a devoted, affectionate shadow who'll learn tricks for treats, Evie is ready to be that dog for you.
