You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pooh is a 9 year old Shih Tzu. He is a sweet boy. He gets along with most other doggies. He is a vocal boy. He will need medicated baths twice a week for another month due to having skin issues. He will need someone who is willing to wipe his eyes each day (sometimes multiple times) and add medicated eye gel due to dry eye. This will be an ongoing financial responsibility for caring with Pooh. He is very good about having his eyes wiped and having his medication applied. Hi, I'm Katie Shih Tzu | Senior | Female | Small About Me Katie is a 14 yr old shih tzu mix that was rescued from the PG County animal shelter on 09/08/25. Sadly, her previous owner had taken her there for euthanasia but thankfully the shelter sent out a rescue plea instead. She is very low-maintenance – pretty much the only time you hear her is when it’s time for breakfast or dinner and even then, it’s just a low grumbling sound to let you know you aren’t moving fast enough! She’s like Mikey – she eats everything!! (If you know, you know..lol) Due to her limited vision, she will do best in a home with not many or no steps (unless they can be blocked off) and no young children as she is easily startled. She currently lives in a home with four small dogs and gets along with all of them but she will be fine as an only dog. As an older lady, she will probably do best with a family that is home most of the time to let her out for potty breaks. She will also require regular grooming. Katie will lay in your lap while you work or curl up next to you while you watch TV. She is such a sweet girl that will make you smile just from looking at her adorable little face and watching her tail wag when you say her name. Her appreciation for being given this second chance is coming through in her personality more and more each day. Come meet her, you will love her immediately! This is Summer. We know she’s part Shi Tzu but we’re not 100% sure about the father’s genes. Summer gets nervous when meeting someone new. She will show signs of fear aggression and I will always recommend to let her come up to you before you try to pet her or anything. Once she gets to know you she gets emotionally attached and is a very loving dog. She loves going outside on walks, loves to play fetch. Loves treats and does pretty good with some of her tricks. The reason I am looking to get her a new home because it is too much to handle a newborn and a dog at once.
