Joe belonged to my father, so he was the only pet in the home, and would be best as the only pet in his future home.He will follow you around while you do chores, or nap by your feet.He seems to have a sensitive stomach, so he eats dry kibble, and beggin' strips as treats. (No soft/canned food or human food.)He is housebroken and enjoys walks 3-4x a day.He is playful, loves to fetch his toys and needs sturdy squeaky toys. Lots of energy!Crate trained/sleeps in a crate all night quietly. Good with routines.Joe does bark a lot, and seems to have some anxiety issues--we are working with the vet for medications to help Joe feel his best. He takes two different medications for anxiety at the same time each day. He also has seasonal allergies, so takes 1/2 benadryl tab twice a day.Note: He will get into shorter trash receptacles vs tall kitchen ones. He has chewed up articles of clothing in the past. He has not done any of this in a couple months (after starting anti-anxiety meds).

Story
This little guy comes from sad beginnings. His 1st owner which was my wife's mother had past and he was left by himself. Since he has had some trauma which has caused him to develop a high anxiety issues. He loves to play and be scratched on his belly and head, but he is extremely nervous. He needs understanding people whom are able to provide him with love, patience and care. He would make a great addtion to anyone's home. Once he opens up he can be cute and kind and can be quite attached.

Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a beer gut - we are working on his weight! He is the happiest, fattest, little Shih Tzu 'around' - he snorts like a bulldog and waddles! He came to rescue at 18 lbs and has been told by our Vet his bloodwork looks great, but his weight is a concern and obesity will cause problems. His foster has him on a diet, special kibble and only one meal a day. Buddy has curly white and tan fur. He had bald spots due to skin infections which have grown back. Due to breed - in addition to exercise, will require extensive grooming! Regular trips to the Salon *Rescue does not complete DNA testing. Breed is based on documentation provided from the original owner and Vet clinic who saw him prior to rescue. Buddy is fostered with cats, small dogs and big dogs. He loves attention and sitting on his foster mom's lap. He is leash trained and potty trained. Loves car rides and 'going anywhere. This breed has a Life Expectancy is 10-15 years. We are seeking a committed family for this piglet. Buddy came to rescue with two dog siblings after his elderly owners could not afford to care for them and taken to a small shelter. The Animal Control Officer contacted CCR and requested help - the dogs were neglected, dirty and not housetrained. They were clearly loved but owners started to struggle to care for themselves and the pets. Buddy has more housetraining than his younger dog friends. Buddy is now up to date on vaccines, dewormed for gut health, microchipped and neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and is on prevention. Effie is a female Shih-tzu mix. DOB: August of 2025 Estelle is a female Maltipoo mix DOB: August of 2023 Combined Adoption fee: $300 (special needs) Effie: I am a puzzle, my pieces are a bit scattered, but they all come together when I am with Estelle. I have trouble accepting affection without her. Not much information was provided upon intake, but they do know; I get my confidence from Estelle. I know I have a face that just makes you want to pick me up and show me that love is grand. I can trust you and to not be afraid. That is not what I need. I need time, patience, and Estelle. I will go for walks on lead, as long as I am with Estelle, I will accept pets and will play with toys with you, maybe even give you kisses, when I am with Estelle. In time, I will grow to love and trust you, but it will not happen if I am forced into it without my security blanket. I am submissive with other dogs, and I like cats; they are bigger than I am. I will require a secure, fenced yard as I am tiny and can fit through small spaces. For more information about me and my friend Estelle, please contact the shelter. Estelle: I am a very sweet lady. I love to go for walks and play with my best friend, Effie. I am very affectionate and enjoy lots of love and kisses. Not much information was provided when I arrived at the shelter. I appear to have had pups in the past, but I am spayed now. Effie may have been a pup from one of my litters; she is very reliant on me. We are a package deal. I had not received much vet care in my previous situation and I am heartworm positive. I am currently receiving treatment. I am available for foster with intent to adopt or possibly foster until my treatment is completed in October. More information can be provided if someone is interested in adopting or just fostering us. It all starts with an application. I would prefer a more mature home atmosphere, although I am playful, Effie would not do well in a household with unusual commotion. I will be fine with dog-friendly cats.
