Meet Trudy – A Sweet Little Lady Looking for Her Furever Home!
Trudy is an adorable 2-year-old, 10-pound Shih Tzu mix with a gentle spirit and a heart just waiting to blossom in the right home!
This sweet little lady was found wandering the streets of Detroit as a stray, and unfortunately, no one came forward to claim her. While we don't know what her life was like before coming into rescue, it's clear that the world can still feel like a big, intimidating place for this petite princess.
Trudy can be timid and unsure when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar surroundings. She isn't the type to rush into your arms at first introduction, but with a little patience, kindness, and reassurance, she begins to let her sweet personality shine. She's looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and that the best relationships are worth waiting for!
In her foster home, Trudy has done well with both dogs and cats, proving that she can peacefully share her space with furry companions. She is crate trained and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners, making her a lovely little houseguest. She's also a relatively quiet girl who isn't interested in making a fuss.
Trudy is still learning that leash walks can be enjoyable adventures rather than something to worry about. While she's making progress, unfamiliar sights and sounds can still make her nervous. She will benefit from a patient family willing to continue building her confidence at her own pace rather than expecting her to immediately embrace the big world around her.
Because of her timid nature, Trudy would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children who understand the importance of respecting her boundaries and allowing her to feel safe. As a Shih Tzu, she will also require regular professional grooming to keep her coat healthy, comfortable, and looking its best.
Trudy may be small, but she has so much love to give to the right family. She doesn't need a busy household or grand adventures to be happy. She simply needs a safe place to land, a predictable routine, and people who will celebrate her little victories as she continues to gain confidence.

OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
