Story
Manny is a wonderful and polite 10-year-old shih-tzu mix.  He has the cutest underbite!  He was picked up as a stray covered in fleas and needing some TLC.  He is now healthy and soft and snuggle.  Manny is good with other dogs, (we think he would be fine with cats).  He will snuggle with his foster dog and wants to play with him but the foster is older and not interested.  Manny loves to be petted and will let you know with his paws not to stop, same goes when he is playing with you with your hands.  Manny is housetrained.  He has been to the vet and had a dental done too.  We think he will be fine with kids as long as there out of the real young stage of running and grabbing and all that.  He will sleep with you if you let him or just fine in a cosey dog bed.  Manny really is just a happy go lucky little dude.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.November 22, 2025, 2:55 pm

Story
Angel is a female Shih Tzu, appx 4.5 years old (born March 2021).  Angel is looking for a loving forever home where she is able to snuggle up on the couch under a blanket with her owner and get a little exercise on some walks.  She is doing well at her foster home. Angel gets along great with kids.  She would love to have a canine buddy in the home, but it's not required.   She loves all people and did great with lots of people around at Thanksgiving!  Angel would do best in a home if someone is home most of the time because she has a little separation anxiety. The suggested adoption donation for Angel is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2573329##

Story
Cupcake is as sweet as her name, with a spunky spirit and a heart full of love just waiting to share. Though she is mostly blind (seeing figures but limited), she doesn’t let that slow her down one bit. True to her Shih Tzu nature, she is a big dog in a little body, full of bravery and a strong desire to explore her world. Cupcake does well with calm, respectful dogs and is happy to meet visiting children, though a home without full-time kids would be the best fit for her. A securely fenced yard is a must to help her safely satisfy her adventurous side. With her fearless attitude and endless affection, Cupcake is ready to find a family who will cheer her on every step of the way. Cupcake is a female ShihTzu who was was born approximately 4-17-21 and weighs 13 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and started on heartworm prevention. She was seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist where it was determined that she has a premature cataract on the left but is not a candidate for surgical repair due to the structure of her eye. She previously had her right eye removed due to an injury. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. ***If you are serious about adopting, you must first complete and submit an application on our website. Our Adoption Team will respond via email from DollysLegacyAdoptions@gmail.com once you have completed an application. If a pet is still listed, it is not yet adopted as we update daily. All information regarding adoption policies are on our website***
