Story
Angel is a female Shih Tzu, appx 4.5 years old (born March 2021).  Angel is looking for a loving forever home where she is able to snuggle up on the couch under a blanket with her owner and get a little exercise on some walks.  She is doing well at her foster home. Angel gets along great with kids.  She would love to have a canine buddy in the home, but it's not required.  Angel is playful girl.  She loves chasing toys and wrestling.  She loves all people and did great with lots of people around at Thanksgiving!  Angel would do best in a home if someone is home most of the time because she has a little separation anxiety. Angel is mostly potty trained and is used to going outside every two hours for a potty break.  Otherwise, she will go on her potty pad.  Before living at her current foster home, she only used potty pads and never went outside so she has made lots of progress.  She sleeps all night without needing to go out.  Angel will need time to transition when she moves to a new home and it will be wise to at least start with a potty pad for her.  As she feels more secure, she will probably adjust to going outside with regular potty breaks. The suggested adoption donation for Angel is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. Story
Cupcake is as sweet as her name, with a spunky spirit and a heart full of love just waiting to share. Though she is mostly blind (seeing figures in bright light, but limited), she doesn’t let that slow her down one bit. True to her Shih Tzu nature, she is a big dog in a little body, full of bravery and a strong desire to explore her world. Cupcake does well with calm, respectful dogs and is happy to meet visiting children, though a home without full-time kids would be the best fit for her. A securely fenced yard is a must to help her safely satisfy her adventurous side. With her fearless attitude and endless affection, Cupcake is ready to find a family who will cheer her on every step of the way. ✅ Does not wish to live full-time with children ✅ Special needs: blind -- fence required Cupcake is a female ShihTzu who was was born approximately 4-17-21 and weighs 13 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and started on heartworm prevention. She was seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist where it was determined that she has a premature cataract on the left but is not a candidate for surgical repair due to the structure of her eye. She previously had her right eye removed due to an injury. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. ***If you are serious about adopting, you must first complete and submit an application on our website.
