Hey there, the name is Vinnie. I am an eight year old Shih Tzu mix, tipping the scales at a mighty nine pounds, and let me tell you, I may be small but I have a whole lot of heart packed into this little body. When I first arrived as a stray on February tenth, I was not exactly looking my best. Life on the streets had me feeling a bit worn around the edges, and my coat had seen better days. But with some good food, kind hands, and a proper grooming, I am feeling like myself again. Clean, handsome, and ready to start the next chapter of my life. I am what you would call a nice little boy. Gentle, sweet, and perfectly content to trot along by your side or curl up next to you for a cozy evening. I have that classic Shih Tzu charm, soft eyes that look right into your soul, and a quiet loyalty that says, I am your guy. I have passed all my testing, so I am ready to walk out that door with confidence and start fresh with a family of my own. At eight years young, I am past the puppy chaos and into the gentleman phase of life. I appreciate the simple things, a comfy bed, a steady routine, a lap to call my own. I promise to be your devoted little shadow, following you from room to room just to make sure you are not lonely. Spoiler alert, I do not plan on being lonely either. If you are looking for a small companion with a tender heart, a calm spirit, and a whole lot of love to give, I think we should meet. I have been through a rough patch, but I have come out the other side ready to be someone’s best friend. Vinnie's adoption fee is $275. Meet Dommy (pronounced dough-me). Dommy is a 2-year-old female Shih Tzu weighing 14 pounds of pure sweetness. This little doll came to us as an owner surrender due to housing issues, and she is now ready to find her happily-ever-after.Dommy is friendly with everyone she meets. She does wonderfully with both children and adults. She can be a bit shy around other dogs and has never been around cats. Dommy is housetrained and will also use pee pads in the house.This smart girl is bilingual, she understands English and Spanish. She has a low to medium energy level and absolutely prances on her walks — it’s adorable. Dommy is very affectionate and loves to sit in your lap if allowed. She sleeps in a crate at night and is perfectly content being picked up with no fuss.Dommy can be protective of her food while eating, so supervision during mealtimes is important. As a Shih Tzu, she will require regular professional grooming and consistent brushing. Please research grooming costs in advance — dogs her size typically cost around $50 per grooming session.Dommy is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program. That means you can welcome her into your home and begin bonding right away while she completes her vetting with the shelter’s veterinarian. Her vetting includes spay surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing.
