Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Clarabelle – A Sweet Girl Discovering the Joys of Home Life Clarabelle is a former puppy mill momma who is now embracing her new chapter and learning what it means to simply be a loved dog. She is sweet, gentle, and easy-going, with a calm presence that makes her a wonderful companion. Clarabelle enjoys spending time outdoors and loves to run around the yard — even in cold weather or snow! Because she truly enjoys her outdoor time, a securely fenced yard is required. She gets along well with other dogs and would be happy sharing her home with a canine companion. Clarabelle requires a home with a companion dog of similar size/energy. Inside the home, Clarabelle is quiet and peaceful. She loves relaxing near her people, often choosing a cozy spot close by wherever you are. Mealtime and treats are some of her favorite parts of the day, and she’s not picky at all, happily eating twice daily. Clarabelle is continuing to make progress with her house-training and does well with a consistent routine. She’s a gentle, even-tempered girl who does well in the car, enjoys toys, and has a soft, affectionate nature. While she can be a bit shy at first, she warms up nicely and becomes a loving presence in the home. &#226&#156&#168 The best home for Clarabelle is one that will offer patience, consistency, and kindness as she continues to grow and build confidence. A calm household with older, respectful children would be a great fit for her. Clarabelle’s adoption donation is $525, and she is being fostered in Athens Ohio area. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home — she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. Clarabelle has tested negative for heartworm and has been started on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and she has also had a dental cleaning. Clarabelle is ready to leave her past behind and begin the life she deserves — full of comfort, security, and love.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  February 7, 2026, 11:02 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Buttons — a devoted little guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart We don’t believe Buttons had the best start in life, but what truly defines him is how far he’s come. With patience, consistency, and extensive professional training at the Zoom Room, Buttons has been a dedicated and enthusiastic student who has made truly amazing progress. His foster family and trainers alike are incredibly proud of the confident, capable dog he continues to become. Buttons is a Shih Tzu who loves life’s simple pleasures: car rides, relaxed walks, and hot dogs, which are absolutely his favorite treat. He enjoys spending time with his people and thrives with clear communication, calm leadership, and predictable routines. Buttons builds trust thoughtfully and at his own pace, and once he feels safe, he is deeply loyal and affectionate. He also handles grooming beautifully and does great with Miss Lisa—taking his baths like a champ and even handing out kisses during grooming sessions. It’s a wonderful example of how well he does when he feels safe and supported. Buttons does best with experienced adopters who understand reactive dogs and appreciate the value of continued structure and positive reinforcement. He feels most comfortable in a calm, adult-only home where his boundaries are respected and expectations are clear. A peaceful, predictable environment helps him remain confident and successful. During thunderstorms or fireworks, Buttons may seek comfort and reassurance, often happily curling up in your lap. He requires regular eye drops as part of his daily care and takes them like a champ. Buttons is not the right fit for every home—but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion. With patience, understanding, and the skills he’s worked so hard to develop, Buttons is ready to continue thriving in a loving forever home. Buttons’s adoption donation is $425, and he is being fostered in the Central Ohio area. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention. He has also had a dental cleaning. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Topaz — a Little Gem Looking for Her Person Topaz is every bit as precious as her name suggests. She’s a gentle, affectionate girl who thrives on companionship and loves being close to her person. Topaz adores belly rubs, cuddles, and cozy naps. Soft toys are her favorite—especially crinkly ones—and she enjoys treats and toys she can easily carry around. When it comes to car rides, she’s a dream companion and often curls up and falls asleep in her car seat. She can be a bit shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her friendly and loving personality really shines. Topaz does best in a calm, reassuring environment and bonds closely with her people. Topaz enjoys running and playing, especially in a fenced yard, and also does well going for walks—she will happily potty while on leash. While no dog is ever guaranteed to be house trained, Topaz does very well when kept on a consistent schedule and understands how to alert when she needs to go out. As with any new home, a transition period should be expected. She is wonderfully easygoing with others and tends to ignore most animals she encounters—including dogs, cats, and even more unusual critters! Because of this, a companion animal is not required for her happiness. She also does well with children. Topaz at a glance: Loves: Cuddles, belly rubs, naps, treats, soft/crinkly toys, being with her person Car rides: Excellent—she relaxes and sleeps Activity level: Moderate &#239&#184&#143 Eating schedule: Twice daily (morning and evening), wet/dry mix Ideal home: Fenced yard preferred, calm environment, someone home much of the day Topaz’s ideal home would be one where she can enjoy companionship, a predictable routine, and plenty of love. She’s a gentle soul who doesn’t ask for much—just a soft place to land and a person to call her own. If you’re looking for a devoted little companion who will happily share your couch, your heart, and your quiet moments, Topaz may be the perfect match. Topaz’s adoption donation is $500, and she is being fostered in Central Ohio. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home — she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Esme — a precious puppy mill momma discovering the joy of being cherished Esme is a sweet puppy mill momma who is finally getting the chance to experience life at her own pace. After a past that didn’t always put her needs first, she’s now learning how wonderful warm blankets, gentle voices, and full tummies can be—and she’s doing a great job. This calm little lady has perfected the art of cozy naps and can usually be found snoozing in the warmest spot she can find. Esme loves treats (seriously, treats are her love language!) and has discovered that they pair quite nicely with gentle belly rubs. She does well settling into a crate, rides nicely in the car, and is slowly warming up to spending time outside, even joining the other dogs for short adventures and the occasional happy dash. Esme has a low energy level and enjoys a peaceful, low-key lifestyle. She does best when kept on a consistent routine, with the understanding that there will always be a transition period as she adjusts to a new home. She gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from a calm canine companion to help guide her. As a mill momma, Esme is still learning that human touch is kind and safe. Loud noises can startle her, so a quieter home with a patient, mill-dog-experienced adopter would be ideal. She is comfortable being alone for short periods, making her a good match for someone with a relaxed or part-time schedule. Given time, patience, and lots of love, this deserving momma will continue to blossom into the sweet companion she was always meant to be. If you have a gentle heart, a warm blanket, and a little extra patience, Esme is ready to meet you. Esme’s adoption donation is $475, and she is being fostered in Cleveland area. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home — she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Freddie — a gentle soul with a heart full of love Freddie is a sweet, easygoing little guy who has truly blossomed in foster care. With the support of our holistic/integrative medicine veterinarian, he has made amazing progress and is feeling better and more balanced every day. His foster family is so proud of how far he’s come! Freddie’s favorite things in life are simple and wonderful: leisurely walks, tasty treats, cozy naps, and—most of all—cuddling with his people. He has a calm, low-key personality and is happiest when he’s close by, soaking up love and companionship. He enjoys being part of the daily routine and does best when kept on a consistent schedule, with the understanding that there may always be a short transition period as he settles into a new home. This charming boy does well with other dogs, cats, and respectful children over 8. He isn’t shy around visitors and is perfectly content in a home that welcomes friends and family. Freddie has learned to let you know when he needs to go outside and continues to do well when given structure and gentle guidance. Freddie is currently working through some mild anxiety when left alone and has been making steady, encouraging progress. A patient adopter who is home often and lives a relaxed, low-key lifestyle would be ideal for him. His foster would love to see his acupuncture sessions continue and for him to remain on a fresh food diet, both of which have been very beneficial for him. Freddie is a loving, loyal companion who will thrive in a home that values togetherness, routine, and lots of snuggles. If you’re looking for a devoted little shadow to share your days with, Freddie may be the perfect match. Freddie’s adoption donation is $350 and he is being fostered in Central Ohio. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention.
