A SPECIAL LITTLE GUY
Figaro aka “Figgy”
4 years, neutered male, 16 lbs

LIKES: Figgy loves people, kids, cuddling, stroller rides, going places, sniffing around outside, car rides, and being included in whatever his people are doing. He absolutely LOVES his stroller and gets very excited when he sees it! He enjoys meeting new people and is a social little guy who is happiest when he gets to be part of the action. He especially loves lounging in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, and getting all the pets.
DISLIKES: Figgy can be protective of high-value resources and occasionally wants to be left alone when he is tired or settling down for the night. He does best when people and dogs respect his space around things he considers especially valuable.
PERSONALITY TRAITS: Figgy is a mellow, affectionate little guy with a surprisingly big zest for life. He has a history of significant orthopedic trauma, including spinal and pelvic fractures, which are now healed but have left him with some permanent mobility and neurologic deficits. None of that has stopped him from enjoying life!
He loves his people and is happiest cuddled up in a lap or tagging along on an adventure. He genuinely enjoys getting out and experiencing the world, and he has a particularly joyful personality when he’s in his stroller. He seems to love seeing what his people are up to.
He currently lives with four other dogs and generally coexists very well with them, though he would likely be happiest in a home with a calm, compatible dog or as the only dog, where he can soak up all the attention. He is a social, easygoing little guy who loves being part of family life.
POTTY TRAINING STATUS: Due to neurologic deficits from his previous injuries, Figgy is fully incontinent for his bladder and bowels. He does not have control over when he urinates or passes stool. His care is very manageable with routine and consistency. He wears a belly band for urine when appropriate, and his foster home has established a predictable bathroom routine. A short walk after meals will often prompt him to pass his formed stool outside, although occasional accidents in the house do happen.
X-PEN / CRATE TRAINING STATUS: Figgy is crate trained and generally settles easily without a fuss. He actually loves sleeping in his crate at night. When someone is home and able to keep an eye on him, Figgy has free range of the house. For his safety, he uses an x-pen when the house is especially busy or there is a lot of commotion, and when he is home alone. He is comfortable and content in his x-pen and does well with this routine.
EXTRAS/MISC: Figgy can walk and enjoys short walks, but he tires more easily than a typical dog and uses a stroller for longer outings. And honestly, he thinks the stroller is pretty fantastic. He takes a daily anti-inflammatory medication. His veterinary evaluation found no significant pain beyond what would be expected from his previous injuries, and any discomfort appears to be well controlled with his daily medication. His veterinarian believes he can have many happy years ahead with appropriate care.
