Story
Oreo is 4 years old and weighs about 14lbs. He is so playful and loves his human immensely. He likes to hug with his arms! It is so cute. He crates well and rides well in the car. He is housetrained with a doggy door. Oreo is just a dear little guy who wants a quiet home, not too busy. No kiddos for Oreo. He gets scared too easily and little children would make him scared. He would love to be your little lap dog. Oreo has resource guarding issues so only an experienced pet owner or a home as an only pet would be appropriate. Oreo needs a home with a fully fenced yard and someone active enough to play with him and keep him exercised. Please email stmartinsanimalrescue@hotmail.com for an application.

Story
We have a transport leaving the end of March 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Allie to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Allie 💗 Soft. Sweet. Quietly overflowing with love. Allie is the gentle heartbeat in a tiny 4.6-lb body. She looks just like a miniature Shih Tzu,... soft eyes, delicate features, and a calm presence that feels like home. She is beautifully tempered, just like her sister, but carries herself with a quieter sweetness. Meeting new people, she may be a little shy at first. But once her heart opens to you, the love waiting inside comes pouring out in the most beautiful way. She bonds deeply. She snuggles fully. She gives kisses like they are precious gifts. Allie loves playtime, loves to run around and be her happy self, and equally loves curling up close for snuggles. She is pad trained and crate trained, and happily sleeps in her crate or beside you if invited. Because of her tiny size, she is always accompanied outside for potty time. Leash training will be newer to her as well, but she will adjust beautifully with gentle guidance. She sheds lightly (even less than Penny), and with regular grooming her coat remains very manageable. She is wonderful at the groomer and enjoys being pampered. She is great with other dogs and cats alike and truly loves everyone, even if she takes a moment to warm up. Her previous owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her girls due to leaving for service training out of state and wanted them to know the same depth of love she always gave them. Allie deserves that continuation of devotion. She does not need to be adopted with her sister, though they complement each other beautifully if someone desires a pair. Allie is ready to become someone’s soft little shadow, lap baby, and devoted princess. Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/allie-2 This covers her spay, vaccines, microchip and registration, dental cleaning and baby tooth extractions (retained baby teeth removed), full veterinary exam, grooming, and training while in our care. Birthday: 2/20/25

Story
Star is Sponsored by Mary Martin✨ Meet Star! ✨Star is a darling little Shih Tzu mix with a big personality packed into a tiny, fluffy body. True to her Shih Tzu roots, she adores being close to her people, thrives on companionship, and will happily follow you from room to room like your very own pint-sized shadow.Star is a sweet little girl who loves gentle affection, cozy beds, and being told how beautiful she is (which is often!). She bonds closely with her humans and will reward you with loyalty, snuggles, and those irresistible soulful eyes — plus the most adorable little underbite that gives her face extra character and charm. It’s impossible not to smile when she does. 💕Now, let’s talk about her “spicy” side 🌶️ — because every Star shines a little differently! While she is loving and devoted, she is also a bit of a hot tamale when it comes to being physically handled or picked up by strangers. Star does not appreciate new people manipulating her body, especially at the vet, and she can be quite dramatic about it (think: full opera performance). For her comfort and safety, she will likely require medication or sedation for veterinary visits and possibly grooming appointments.Because of this, Star would do best with:An experienced dog ownerA calm, predictable homeNo young children who may try to pick her up or handle her roughlyA veterinarian willing to work patiently and compassionately with her needsOutside of those situations, Star is a typical Shih Tzu — alert, charming, and happiest when she’s near her person. She isn’t looking for chaos or adventure; she’s looking for her safe place and her safe people. If you understand that even the brightest stars need a little patience and respect, Star — and her precious underbite smile — just might be your perfect match. 💫If you are interested in meeting Star, the shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11am – 5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm (Winter Hours). If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.
