Story
Oreo is 4 years old and weighs about 14lbs. He is so playful and loves his human immensely. He likes to hug with his arms! It is so cute. He crates well and rides well in the car. He is housetrained with a doggy door. Oreo is just a dear little guy who wants a quiet home, not too busy. No kiddos for Oreo. He gets scared too easily and little children would make him scared. He would love to be your little lap dog. Oreo has resource guarding issues so only an experienced pet owner or a home as an only pet would be appropriate. Oreo needs a home with a fully fenced yard and someone active enough to play with him and keep him exercised. Please email stmartinsanimalrescue@hotmail.com for an application.

Story
Rosie (formerly Star) is Sponsored by Mary MartinMeet Rosie!Rosie is a darling little Shih Tzu mix with a big personality packed into a tiny, fluffy body. True to her Shih Tzu roots, she adores being close to her people, thrives on companionship, and will happily follow you from room to room like your very own pint-sized shadow.Rosie is a sweet little girl who loves gentle affection, cozy beds, and being told how beautiful she is (which is often!). She bonds closely with her humans and will reward you with loyalty, snuggles, and those irresistible soulful eyes — plus the most adorable little underbite that gives her face extra character and charm. It’s impossible not to smile when she does. Rosie was recently returned to the shelter because she became fearful of unfamiliar people visiting her home. When frightened, she may nip in an effort to make scary situations go away. Because of this, Rosie is looking for a calm, predictable home with people who understand that building trust takes time and that not every dog wants to greet strangers. Now, let’s talk about her “spicy” side 🌶️ — because every Rosie shines a little differently! While she is loving and devoted to her people, she is not comfortable being physically handled or picked up by strangers. Rosie does not appreciate new people manipulating her body, especially at the vet, and she can be quite dramatic about it (think: full opera performance). For her comfort and safety, she will likely require medication or sedation for veterinary visits and possibly grooming appointments.Because of this, Rosie would do best with:• An experienced dog owner• A calm, predictable home• A home with minimal visitors or one where visitors can respect her space• No young children who may try to pick her up or handle her roughly• A veterinarian willing to work patiently and compassionately with her needsOutside of those situations, Rosie is a typical Shih Tzu — alert, charming, and happiest when she’s near her person. She isn’t looking for chaos or a busy social calendar; she’s looking for her safe place and her safe people. If you understand that even the brightest stars need a little patience and respect, Rosie — and her precious underbite smile — just might be your perfect match.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.

Story
Princess & Precious are an adorable pair of mother/daughter tiny Shih Tzu mixes. Precious the Mom is 10 and scruffy, and Princess the daughter is 9 and smooth-coated. They both have brown heart-shaped patches of fur on their sides. Both are quite friendly, snuggly and cuddly, and make excellent alarm clocks/burglar alarms. Both love to eat anything you give them. Both are friendly to other dogs, and people of all ages. No idea about their opinion of cats. They both sleep on my bed, either under the covers or wrapped up in a blanket on top. Both are potty trained. They came from an older person home that was moving to an assisted living facility and not able to take the dogs. Vet care was sadly lacking at their former home, and both dogs had to have several teeth removed. Princess (the smooth-coated daughter) has a dry left eye and will need drops for that for life. These are delightful cuties who want nothing more than to love and be loved forevermore. And of course well-fed. They are fully vetted, microchipped, spayed and dental done. Their adoption fee is $420 total for both dogs. To meet this little girls please go to our website - OFOSA.ORG and fill out the Dog Adoption Application and the foster mom will get back to you to meet them.

Story
Diggie looks like someone shrunk Chewbacca down into an 11 lb bestie with tiny paws and a perfect button nose. Freshly groomed he is adorable, but when that scruffy grey coat grows out? Full rescue-muppet magic! Estimated to be about 4 years old, Diggie is a Shih Tzu mix with a playful side, a sensitive heart, and a very strong attachment to his people. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess. Go watch Diggie Doodlebug on YouTube then come right back to read more about this shaggy little sweetheart. https://youtu.be/4uY3QypwIAY Diggie is currently fostered in a loving home where his foster describes him as playful, lovable, extremely smart, and full of personality once comfortable. He loves toys, enjoys digging dramatically through dog beds, and bonds deeply with his people. He especially loves kids and would truly thrive in a home with children. He also lives with cats successfully and can do well with calm, easygoing dogs after slow introductions. Once comfortable he is a bouncy, playful boy. The day we met Diggie he was in an unfamiliar environment with a heap of new people, not ideal for his sensitive nature but even while stressed he remained incredibly soft-tempered and never once reacted roughly. Once he trusts someone, though, his foster shares that he can handle a busy lifestyle and genuinely enjoys going places with her. Diggie is not currently leash trained but continues to practice with his foster, so a home with a secure yard would make life much easier for him while he continues building up his leash confidence. Crates are also stressful for him and his foster does not currently use one but shares that he is trustworthy in the home and has not been a necessity. This little guy is not an instant “life of the party” dog. He is a relationship-first dog. But for someone willing to let him settle in at his own pace, there is a really funny, loving, toy-obsessed little companion underneath that fluffy grey fur. Ready to welcome Diggie home? Story
If sunshine could grow fur and wag its tail, it would probably look a lot like Happy. This adorable 1-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix is 10 pounds of pure courage, joy, and fluffy white perfection. With the softest cloud-like coat you’ve ever touched and a tail that’s seemingly powered by an endless supply of happiness, Happy lives up to his name every single day. Life threw Happy a small curveball in the form of cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that makes him a little wobbly on his feet. He may occasionally tumble over or zig-zag his way across the room, but don’t tell Happy he’s different—because he certainly hasn’t noticed. His spirit is unstoppable, and he approaches every day with enthusiasm, confidence, and a permanent grin plastered across his adorable face. Look how adorable he is in his YouTube video now https://youtu.be/EcgM3FGzCjQ?si=N-fPFB3EQeMzrBXJ Happy loves making friends and currently lives with two large dogs that he enjoys playing with, as well as several cats. He has never met a toy he didn’t like and is a champion self-entertainer, happily zooming around, tossing toys in the air, and creating his own fun whenever the mood strikes. When playtime is over, Happy transforms into a world-class cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people, soaking up affection, and taking cozy naps after a busy day of adventuring. He’s crate trained, though if given the choice, he’d much rather be wherever you are. Speaking of adventures, Happy is an excellent road trip companion. He rides like a pro from his dog bed in the passenger seat, carefully watching the road ahead and taking in all the sights. Curious by nature, he loves exploring new places, investigating interesting smells, and discovering what exciting things the world has to offer. Happy has that perfect balance of playful and relaxed. He’s always ready for fun, but he’s equally happy curling up beside you for some quality snuggle time. Through it all, his tail keeps wagging, his smile keeps shining, and his joyful spirit reminds everyone around him to appreciate the little things. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, melt your heart, and brighten every single day, Happy is ready to prove that being a little wobbly doesn’t stop you from living life to the fullest. After all, happiness isn’t something he feels—it’s who he is. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
