Meet the cutest little guy around! He is a compact ball of love and we call him our "Walmart Greeter". Carson's person died a couple of years ago and he is needing a new home. Carson is a happy little guy who loves everyone and gets along great with other dogs. Carson is playful, housebroken, snuggly, likes to play with toys and would love a family to call his own again. This little guy is part Shih Tzu part.... Bassett?? A short, stocky little man for sure. Don't let those little legs fool you though, he likes to run and play with the big dogs. Carson is housebroken, so the hard work is done for you! He is an adult with a lot of life left! Let him snuggle up to you and you can heal his little heart. Cosmo is relatively new to Bonaparte's Retreat and we pulled the sweet little guy after he was dumped at the shelter (with a Christmas sweater on!) matted, full of fleas, smelling awful, filthy with long nails and having an obvious limp and injury in his back leg. We have had him checked by the vet and most of his skin issues have been remedied with a medicated shampoo which is awesome! He does need to have a forever family that understands that he has some physical limitations with one of his legs so flooring and helping him up and down stairs will be key. But Cosmo is a sweet boy who LOVES people, looking out the window, being near you, and is potty trained to go on a pee pad near the door! He also seems good with cats!March 7, 2025, 11:06 am

Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.The application is the first step. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.Please have patience. We do not have any paid staff members. Our adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies, HW check, and microchip. Russell Rescue dogs are fostered in the Middle Tennessee area. We do not ship/transport our dogs, so the approved adopter must be willing to travel to Tennessee. Russell Rescue will try to first place our rescue dogs locally or in surrounding states.Russell Rescue is not open to the public for visiting hours.
