Moo is a mature adult Shih Tzu with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He came to Cactus Ranch Rescue from a kill shelter in the Rio Grande Valley after arriving in rough condition with severe matting, a painful skin infection, and some weight to gain. Despite everything he has been through, Moo is one of the happiest little guys around. He is sweet, affectionate, friendly, and does great with other animals. He loves attention, enjoys being close to his people, and seems genuinely grateful for every bit of comfort and kindness he receives. Moo is also missing his top front teeth and has an adorable little underbite that only adds to his charm. He is currently still healing and is not quite ready to head home yet, but we are accepting applications from families interested in pre-adopting him. Moo would do wonderfully with someone looking for a loving, easygoing companion who just wants a soft place to land and a family of his own.

He can be a little enthusiastic about introductions, but after a day or two, he settles into life with the pack. He eats separately from his foster siblings and already knows his dining spot—table for one, please!Zolo’s hobbies include car rides, snacks, short walks when it’s cool enough, brief sunbathing sessions, and supervising your every move. His dream job? Full-time companion, with unlimited lap privileges. He even uses little doggie stairs to get onto the couch and bed. Independent transportation to the cuddle department! 🥹Zolo does have past trauma, so trust takes time. He doesn’t like being picked up or touched with feet and may growl when he’s uncomfortable. That’s his way of asking for space, and he needs people who listen, respect his boundaries, and let him settle in at his own pace. In just a few weeks with his foster, he’s already become much more comfortable and rarely growls. Under that initially sassy exterior is a deeply affectionate little love bug.His ideal home is calm, without small children, and with someone home much of the day. He enjoys little backyard outings throughout the day and then heading back inside to his people. His sturdy little bow legs generally keep up with him, though they can shake after too much activity, so a gentle pace suits him.He’s smart, too: he learned his new name in just two weeks! He asks to go outside and will also use a washable pad. His foster reports good vision and hearing, and he takes his twice-daily eye medication without a fuss.Zolo’s prescription for happiness? Patience, a peaceful home, furry friends, and a person who loves having a little shadow. Thankfully, her foster momma stepped up and has made incredible progress with her, giving Pippa all the love, patience, and care she needed—including regular medicated baths to help her skin heal and feel better. Despite her rough start, Pippa has held onto the sweetest, happiest personality and is absolutely full of love. 🥹Pippa is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. She loves starting her mornings with a nice long walk, lounging on the patio in the fresh air, and playing with the other dogs in her foster home. When the day starts winding down, she is more than ready to hop onto the couch, squeeze in a little more playtime, and eventually curl up beside her person for a cozy nap.🥰She absolutely adores affection and will happily accept all the snuggles, kisses, and floppy-ear rubs you are willing to give!
