Story
🐾 Kernel 🐾 Shih Tzu | Neutered Male | Adult (Approx. 2–3 Years Old) Kernel is a resilient little Shih Tzu who came to us from the same backyard breeding situation as the others. Despite his rough start, Kernel has shown us just how adaptable and sweet he can be. Kernel has one eye, as his other eye unfortunately ruptured while he was still in the care of the breeder. He has adjusted very well and gets around just fine—his missing eye does not slow him down or affect his quality of life. 🩺 Medical & Vetting: • Neutered • Microchipped • Heartworm tested negative • Rabies vaccinated • Distemper (DHPP) vaccinated • Leptospirosis vaccinated • Bordetella vaccinated ✂️ Grooming Notes: We were told by the breeder that Kernel may become aggressive during grooming. However, when groomed by our groomer, Kernel did very well overall. The only area he showed discomfort with was having his face groomed, which is not uncommon. With patience, consistency, and a groomer experienced with sensitive dogs, this should continue to improve over time. 🐶 Other Pets: Kernel has done well with other dogs while in our care. He has not been tested with cats or children. 🏡 Ideal Home: Kernel would do best in a patient, understanding home that is willing to continue building trust and confidence. His one-eyed status does not require special care beyond normal awareness, and he would make a loving companion for the right family. 📍 Ready to apply? 👉 Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog

Story
At just seven months old, Ken is that perfect mix of cuddly baby and confident explorer. This sweet, boy is happiest when he is close to his people, whether that means curling up in your lap, snoozing on your footstool, or trotting alongside you to see what the day brings. Ken is crate trained and does great overnight and when left home alone. He is still polishing up his house training, but he is smart, eager to please, and learning quickly. He already knows his name and responds with happy enthusiasm when you call him. He rides well in the car in his crate and is always ready for the next adventure. Socially, Ken is a star. He quickly became best friends with his foster’s Great Pyrenees and they follow each other everywhere. He lives with cats and is curious about them, sometimes inviting them to play, but he does not chase. He even tags along for morning and evening chores around chickens, ducks, and geese, choosing to explore the yard rather than bother the birds. On leash, Ken loves a good sniff and prefers a relaxed pace. He is learning his leash manners but does not pull. If he stops to investigate something interesting, he will happily continue on with gentle encouragement. Ken has a playful, affectionate, gentle personality. He is confident without being pushy, cuddly without being clingy, and always seems genuinely happy to be part of whatever you are doing. He may bark briefly when left alone, but he settles nicely. If you are looking for a sweet, smart puppy who wants to be your little shadow and your snuggle buddy, Ken is ready to fill that role with his whole heart. At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2667318##

Story
At just 5 to 5.5 months old and a tiny 6 pounds, this little nugget is the definition of small but mighty. Bug, as her foster calls her, may be petite, but her personality is the full package. She is fully house trained, and absolutely wonderful in her crate. No barking, no fuss, and she is not destructive even when left uncrated. She settles beautifully and has shown no signs of separation anxiety when left with her foster’s other dogs. Barbie is incredibly social. She lives with four dogs, both male and female, and adores them all. Tug of war is one of her favorite games, and she is always ready to jump into playtime. She also does great with cats. The resident cats are bigger than she is, which does not stop her from trying to convince them to play. She is gentle, curious, and playful with them. She has done well with kids too, greeting everyone with friendly confidence. Personality wise, she is affectionate to her core. Barbie loves physical contact and will happily snuggle up any chance she gets. She is confident, smart, eager to please, and friendly toward strangers. She enjoys watching out the window like a tiny neighborhood supervisor and is usually the first to alert you if something unusual is happening. A built in little watchdog in the cutest possible form. She rides well in the car and already knows her name. While her leash skills have not been tested yet, she is a quick learner and very responsive. It is honestly hard to believe she was once a stray because she is so well mannered and connected to her people. Barbie is cuddly, playful, gentle, and bright, all wrapped up in a six pound bundle. Her foster family says she will be very hard to part with, and once you meet her, you will understand exactly why. IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Reese! Reese is about 6 years old and weighs around 15 pounds. Reese looks like a Shih Tzu/Poodle (just a guess). Reese is a sweet boy who was surrendered by his owner along with his "brother" Rudy when their owner could no longer care for them due to health reasons. Reese and Rudy are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. Reese and Rudy are a bit shy at first, but once they warm-up they are sweet, gentle and loving boys. The are good with other dogs too. Reese enjoys looking out the window and watching the world go by. He about this cold weather and is looking forward to Spring:) Reese and Rudy are looking for a forever home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Reese is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is microchipped. The Adoption Fee for both dogs together is $600.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
If you’ve ever believed that love comes in pairs, Dusty and Tito are here to prove it. This adorable mother-and-son duo is as sweet as they come — affectionate, gentle, and happiest when they’re curled up together (or beside you). They’re wonderfully well-mannered little companions. Both walk beautifully on leash — no pulling, just polite strolling. Like many bonded pairs, their hearts are closely tied. They do get anxious when separated, so they’re looking for a forever home where they can stay together — just as they’ve always been. Mom is said to be around 16 years old, but you’d never guess it from her spirit. She may take a moment to get going after a nap (don’t we all?), but once she’s up, she enjoys her walks. She’s even been known to hop up on the couch to join you — though she much prefers the royal treatment of being lifted into your lap. Both dogs love to nap (they are professional snugglers, after all), and they are incredibly affectionate. They’re the kind of pups who will quietly fill your home with warmth, soft snores, and unconditional love. Apply to adopt! Questions About this Animal?
