Meet Susie! This girl came to rescue with 6 other dogs who were removed from a neglectful situation. Susie is learning all about what it means to be a valued family member, and it’s been so sweet watching her milestones. She’s great with other dogs and LOVES to play chase. She’s working on house training, but is consistently using puppy pads. She likes to be the center of attention with her humans once she gets to know them a little. We think she would be well suited for a home with dog-savvy children. Susie will be spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested prior to adoption. She will have 6m of heartworm prevention and 30 days of pet insurance for her new family.

IDEAL HOME: For Tessa, CHR is requiring that applicants currently own a toy breed or have a history of owning one in the past. The reason is that toy breeds have special health and safety needs due to their tiny size. We are also requiring a fenced yard of any size. If there are other dogs in the home, we are asking that they weigh no more than 12 pounds. Meet Tessa! Tessa is a 1-year-old Imperial Shih Tzu who only weighs 5.5 pounds. Tessa is a lively little girl who still has a lot of puppy energy. She loves to cuddle with her humans and be close to them. She enjoys playing with toys by herself or engaging in “tag” with other young dogs. She gets along well with other dogs. Tessa is exclusively trained on fabric pee pads, so she will need a patient parent to train her to eliminate outdoors. Please be aware that pad-trained dogs will pee on rugs because the texture reminds them of pee pads. We’re asking that her new parents are home during the day because she does have some separation anxiety due to recently losing the only home she’s ever known. Usually separation anxiety decreases over time as rescue dogs adapt to their new situation.   Tessa is a lively little girl who still has a lot of puppy energy. Bonded Pair Seeking a Forever Home &#226&#128&#139 We are hoping to find Huckleberry  and Finnegan, two Imperial Shih Tzus under a year old, a forever home that can take both of them because they are bonded and get along so well. The boys are neutered, UTD and microhipped. Both babies also had a dental to remove any incisors needing to be removed. CHR is asking for a fenced yard because both puppies are only pee-pad trained. If you have  rugs, these two may not be for you since dogs trained on pee pads can’t always tell the difference between a pee pad and a rug. &#226&#128&#139 Finnegan &#226&#128&#139 Finnegan, or Finn for short, is a 7-month-old male Imperial Shih Tzu. This sweet angel is friendly and a sweetheart. He is a Shih Tzu lover’s dream dog! He gets along with other dogs and loves his toys and treats. Finnegan is pee-pad trained exclusively, so he will need a patient foster to teach him to eliminate outdoors. We are asking for his new owner to have a fenced backyard because Finn is not leash trained. &#226&#128&#139 Huckleberry &#226&#128&#139 Huck is a 9-month-old Imperial Shih Tzu who weighs only 4.5 pounds. This little snuggle bunny couldn’t be any cuter. Arthur loves his brother Finn; they play and race around the house with toys in their mouths. Dahlia is spayed, UTD and microchipped.    Dahlia is super sweet and affectionate. She likes to cuddle and be around her humans and has the sweet Shih Tzu temperament. She loves to play with toys, her humans, and other dogs. Her foster mom has mostly housetrained Dahlia but she may need to wear a diaper overnight until she settles in and is 100% trained. She is doing really well using a fenced grassy yard for elimination, but she will need a diligent pup parent to take her out every few hours to continue her training. For that reason, CHR is asking for her adopter to have a dog-secure fenced yard. Because she is still adjusting to losing the only home she has ever known, Dahlia is a bit timid and a “Velcro” dog, so she would not do well in a home where she is left alone all day.
