Story
Meet Pupee, a sweet and laid-back 7-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love to share. This friendly little guy loves being held, happily snuggling into your arms and giving plenty of kisses. He's happiest spending time with his people, whether it's relaxing together, riding in the car, or even watching his favorite TV shows. Pupee is well-mannered, enjoys meeting new people, has done well with respectful older children, and is described by his previous owner as smart, obedient, and full of love. He is currently being evaluated for some medical concerns, including a rear leg injury and skin issues, but through it all he has remained cooperative and gentle. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be close to his favorite person, Pupee may be the perfect match. HART Homepage: https://hart90.org/ Questions About this Animal? Story
Sweet Hazel is a 2-year-old 32 -lb. Shih Tzu Mix, who is calm and lovable. A little shy at first, once she's comfortable, she'll be more than ready to sit and snuggle with you and give you kisses. In fact, she's the kind of dog who always wants to be where her people are, relishing every little bit of attention that comes her way. She is super excited to be the recipient of some TLC meant solely for her. Hazel gets along with all the other dogs and cats in her foster home, but she really is more people-oriented and would do best in a home where she's the only dog and have no children in the home. Hazel is house-trained and enjoys having a backyard to come and go as she pleases. She's also crate-trained but is trustworthy inside the house that she never really needs to be crated. Hazel does well on a leash. Opportunities for a walk and special bonding time taking walks with her humans is one of her favorite things. Hazel’s favorite bonding time comes at night, at bedtime when she approaches her people with a nudge and a kiss. She will snuggle with you on the bed until it’s time for lights out. Then she will sleep contently on her doggie bed the entire night. Hazel is diabetic and needs insulin 2 times a day is now in control of her diabetes and doing well, Hazel would love to be back in a home she can call her own and love her people. ##2813158##

Story
Current Location: Nottingham, MD Meet Fred 💛 Fred is a tender, young Shih Tzu mix who is learning what life can be like when it’s safe, quiet, and kind. He came from a hoarding situation, so the world is still a very big and sometimes scary place—but every day, Fred shows small, brave signs of trust that speak volumes about the loving dog he’s becoming. He’s not ready for hands yet, and sudden movements send him scurrying for cover, but if you sit quietly or go about your day, Fred may sneak close, sniff curiously, and—if he’s feeling extra courageous—offer a quick lick before retreating again. Those tiny moments are huge victories for a dog who has learned that survival sometimes means staying invisible. What truly makes Fred shine is his love for other dogs. He bonded quickly and deeply with his calm, patient foster brother Guinness, who has become his emotional anchor and favorite companion. Fred feels safest with a steady canine friend by his side and will need a similar dog in his future home to help him build confidence. With the right buddy, Fred shows glimpses of joy—howling in protest when separated, scattering toys and chews around the house, stealing socks, and getting the “rips” as he dashes around trying to spark a game of chase. While higher‑energy dogs still feel overwhelming, his curiosity is growing, and he’s watching the world a little more closely every day. Fred is still very much a work in progress and will need a patient, dog‑savvy home committed to moving at his pace. He’s a flight risk and not ready for outdoor adventures yet, and grooming and handling will take time and trust. He’s learning to use potty pads again, loves toys and natural chews, and rewards kindness with quiet companionship and gentle glances from across the room. Fred may not be the dog who runs up for cuddles—but for the right person, earning his trust will be an incredibly meaningful journey. If you believe love can be measured in small steps and soft victories, Fred just might be your kind of dog. 🐾
